Hey queens! I’m Abbie and I would LOVE to be one of your social secs next year.
As a fresher last year, It felt so daunting going to the first socials alone so one thing I would love to implement if I was your social sec is a buddy system connecting those afraid to go to their first social alone. Working with the welfare and inclusion officer, we can connect people who live near each other ensuring everyone has someone they can arrive with and go home with.
Working with my fellow social sec, we can organise bigger and more fun socials- Mischief Wednesdays which we can all go crazy and silly and also more chilled (equally as fun!) sober nights ensuring we have the best of both worlds (cue Hannah Montana).
I have good organisation and communication skills which would be used to create an amazing tour we can all have fun on.

Hello everyone! It’s silly little Tash McCrack here. I would love to be your social secretary next year.

I am a fresher studying Economics and Geography (whenever I’m not dancing in jade studio or mischief). Being a member of ballet society has been a wonderful part of first year. The classes and the socials have been super fun. I have especially enjoyed participating in the show weeks.

I have attended lots of socials this year including sober socials and the (lit) tour, so I understand what kind of atmosphere is expected to be delivered! I get involved in lots of different hobby’s at uni - so I’m used to staying organised.

As your social sec, I would ensure that the Wednesday socials are packed full of games, challenges and lit vibes. And I would organise the larger events of the year such as the Otley run and the secret social. I am passionate about creating an inclusive environment, so I would love to work closely with the welfare officer to ensure ballet events foster this environment.

Hi my names Isobel!

I am in my first year studying Business Management and am part of the Intermediate Competition Team for ballet. I am really hoping to be social sec. I have had some of my best moments at the ballet socials and would love to carry on from Katherines' incredible work. I would like to think I am an approachable person who is open to new ideas and will ensure everyone is entertained every Wednesday and a part of all major events - such as Varsity and The Tour!

I have already enjoyed thinking of some fun ideas for socials, such as a ballet sports day, including sports like a boat race... ;) On top of the staple drinking socials I will ensure there are sober socials to add in to the mix!

Whether social sec or not, I can't wait to participate in all socials and meet new people and dance the year away!!

Hi! My name's Imogen and I'm a second year Psychology student, and have been a member of the Ballet Society since the beginning of my first year. Ballet has been such an important and fun part of my university life, so it feels natural for me to apply for social secretary this year - both as a way for me to become more involved in the society and to involve more members in the social events. I consider myself to be a friendly and approachable person, which is key for helping freshers, and returners, feel welcomed and included in the society. Organising the classic wednesday night socials and sober socials throughout the year are an integral way to achieve this, and I look forward to hopefully working alongside the other social secretary and overall committee to do this.

I have a few ideas for potential ballet socials, such as dressing as something beginning with 'B' for ballet, including the members in what themes are chosen, and playing more games as a group during pres. As much as we all enjoy a night out on Wednesdays, it's as important for there to be more accessible sober socials too, for example picnics and various fun activities like jewellery making, so we can cater for as many of our members as possible. Unfortunately, due to my job, I haven't been able to attend ballet tour while I've been in the society, but I'm sure that my enjoyment in planning trips and events means I can help create one as fun as the previous ones have looked, while also staying affordable for our members.

Overall, I'm drawn to the role of social secretary because of the creativity involved in planning the different events, and I'd love to help create a warm atmosphere for the society next year where all members feel comfortable and have fun! I'd look forward to collaborating with other societies, keeping our link with modern dance, and for ballet to remain as a fun break from the stresses of university life, which I hope to make possible if elected for this role.
