Hello everyone, I’m Sara! Currently in my second year studying maths at the University of Leeds, I've been an active member of our society since I started my degree! You might recognise me from lessons; I make it a point to attend regularly and lend a hand wherever needed. But for those who don’t know me, let me share a bit more about myself – I've been riding on and off since I was about 9, despite this I’m still the most anxious rider known to man! And I definitely don’t have favourites on the yard but hypothetically if I did, it would be Bernard and Hugo.
With two more years ahead of me at Leeds, I've decided to step up and run for the position of Lesson Organiser. I believe I’m well-suited for the role as I have a knack for wrangling people onto the coach or, when necessary, a taxi. Let’s not forget my ability to navigate language barriers when explaining why squeezing nine people into a six-person taxi simply isn't feasible!
My main goal is to make lessons more accessible to riders of all levels. Lately I’ve noticed a decline in our lessons groups and that’s definitely something that I’d like to address. I want to see more people joining in, whether it's through one-off sessions outside of our 'Give It A Go' events or by placing a greater emphasis on stable management for beginners, helping them feel more confident around horses.
