Touch rugby is a difficult sport to explain to close friends, so adding an infinite amount of first years to the mix makes it near impossible. I think as your president I could be an effective ambassador for the sport and advertise the society to a broad range of people regardless of their experience. Much like everyone reading this, I have loved every part of touch (with the exception of being egged topless in the street) and am sad to see many of those, who have worked hard to make the society what it is move on. My commitment is to work hard to maintain touch rugby as an enjoyable society, ensuring that we get to tournaments and arrive with a solid group of players, new and old.

I’m running for President because I genuinely love what this society is about - the sport, the socials, and the people that make it such a great community.

My touch rugby journey hasn’t always been graceful. I was nominated for the dick of the day award after being spear tackled by a Durham 2s player in a touch match (still not sure that was legal), so I know firsthand how chaotic things can get.

Off the pitch, I’m just as committed. I won’t say no to a night out, and I’ll happily chop a beer with anyone who needs a partner. I’ve already proven my dedication to the social side - throwing up on the bus journey back from Notts afterparty wasn’t my proudest moment, but it shows I fully commit to the experience.

I also understand sacrifice. My leg hair has taken months to grow back after having a wax strip at the boys' social, so if I’m willing to go through that, I’m definitely willing to put in the work to make this society even better.

If elected, I want to:
- Communicate well and give clear info about trainings, tournaments, etc
- Look at setting up a touch rugby tour/trip to another country
- Push for more training times that accommodate for everyone
- Build a strong social atmosphere where everyone feels included
- Work with the committee as well as BUCS and England Touch to keep things running smoothly
- Represent touch rugby at uni events and expand our society, specifically strengthening recruitment at freshers fair and give it a go’s
- Organise more fun and casual trainings/meetups, especially when its hot and sunny
- Be approachable and open to any feedback or queries
- Make sure we have a season full of memorable moments
- Treasure and I will shotgun a bunch of beers if we get voted in

I’m Lily and I am running for Touch Rugby President for 2026/27.

My aim is to grow the society and expand Touch Rugby’s presence across Leeds. If elected, I’ll focus on stronger recruitment of new members, greater tournament participation, while also ensuring the society stays organised, welcoming, and enjoyable for everyone.

I also want to introduce the idea of a Touch Rugby Tour. It would be an amazing opportunity for our society - a chance to bring everyone together and create the best memories of the year.

We’ve had a brilliant year under our current President, and I want to not only maintain what’s been done so well, but build on this with new ideas, more opportunities, and an even bigger year for Touch.
