Hi, I’m Katharine and I’m the current social media sec for PAS. I would love to be one of the showcase secs next year because I’ve really enjoyed participating in the creative decisions this year as a committee member. I have performed in numerous musical theatre productions throughout the years and therefore have an interest in productions and how they are put together. I’ve even put together a show myself in my last year of school. It was a 10 minute dance performance involving several different dance styles and as the leader of the group, I had to come up with an overall concept, choreograph, teach, budget, source costumes and design the lighting for the show. I therefore have experience that I can draw on. I have been performing musical theatre since I was in primary school and have a Grade 8 in Musical Theatre Singing, on top of years of dance lessons and a dance leadership qualification, so I am competent at teaching singing and dance.

I have a real belief in what PAS stands for. We may be a smaller society but we have so much talent that needs to be showcased! I would love to have the opportunity to do this. Thank you for considering me.

Hi, I’m Sophie and I’m a first year studying Fine Art with History of Art. I’ve been part of PAS since September, and ever since joining, I have loved and looked forward to every session. I have been singing musical theatre for 10 years, and when joining uni I was adamant to find a musical theatre society because singing has always been such a big part of my everyday life and routine. I’m so glad I’ve joined PAS because I’ve made amazing memories and met so many talented individuals. I met Maya at PAS on the first give it a go session in September, and since then, she has become one of my closest friends at uni.

Together with Maya, I am running for showcase sec because I believe I have the knowledge and experience to run and plan the show. I have a diploma in musical theatre, which is after grade 8 - the highest grade you can achieve. I would be great for the role because I have a large repertoire of musical theatre songs and I am generally a warm, fun and bubbly person who is always inclusive. Being showcase sec would allow to me to bring out confidence in people, a trait I have had to work on in the past to perform. I hope on expanding PAS, as I feel other students could benefit in the same way that I have, as it gives me something to look forward to once or twice a week. I am so thankful for the opportunities PAS has given me, and I can’t wait to hopefully join committee. I have lots of ideas for next year and I can’t wait to get creative with everyone!

Hi, I’m Megan and I’ve been in the Performing Arts Society (PAS) for the past year. I am 20 years old and currently a second year, from a small town north of Manchester. I have always enjoyed theatre - singing especially! Hairspray, Mamma Mia, High School Musical, Camp Rock, Lemonade Mouth and Starstruck (the list could go on) were the soundtracks to my childhood. However, once I got to high school I didn't pursue it anymore, but after friends (the then director and musical director of the show) convinced me to do the Devonshire Hall production of High School Musical I fell back in love with theatre and I knew in my second year I needed to continue my reinvigorated love for theatre! Which is when I was told about PAS!
PAS was the perfect theatre society for me as it was non-audition and was a much lower pressure environment. I was extremely nervous to attend the first meeting but with a bit of encouragement from my housemate I went, and I found an extremely welcoming society that put a lot of my nerves to rest. As Showcase Secretary, I want to continue this environment and attitude throughout the showcase experience, from rehearsals to show nights. I think that the showcase needs to be a safe space so people feel comfortable to put themselves out there. I’m a strong believer in taking every opportunity you are given and I want to give everyone in PAS an opportunity to feel like they are the lead.
In terms of experience in planning and organizing, I was Head Girl and was in charge of organizing a team of 15 senior prefects and a wider team of over 100 prefects.
Not only this, but In my first year I was the Vice President and Secretary of the Devonshire Hall Residence Committee, where I organized the Christmas Ball, decorations for Formal Dinners, looked after the social media where I was in charge of publicity for both the HSM Production and the Christmas Ball where both tickets sold incredibly well.
Finally last year I was an unofficial adopted member of the baking society and assisted in the running of meetings and events.
I would like to be one of the Showcase Secretaries of PAS because I believe I can help bring the showcase more attention while keeping the main focus on building up and giving members confidence and support. I want people to know (both PAS members and audience members) that being involved in theatre isn’t restricted to an audition only thing that needs a large time commitment. I want PAS to be a place where people are able to build confidence which they can take away from theatre and apply to things like interviews or presentations. I want to keep the society as a low pressure environment where everyone has the opportunity to have their moment to shine.
Not only this but I want to introduce more things to help members learn more transferable theatrical skills to help introduce/reintroduce them not only to theatre but for them to have more tools in their toolkit for life's big adventures! I think Performing Arts Society has the opportunity to be a society that allows everyone to feel important and the opportunity to develop and grow as a dancer, actor, singer or triple threat.

Hi everyone, I'm Maya and I'm currently a first year law student. I'm running for showcase sec as I would love to play a role in planning the shows and have a more active role in the society, not only contributing our own ideas but also listening to what others in the society want. I'm passionate about musical theatre and have performed in many shows over the years and have also completed Grade 8 MT. I am running alongside Sophie who I met at one of the first give it a go session for PAS and now we’re besties. We are both approachable and super friendly so will help ensure the society is welcoming towards newcomers and that everyone has an enjoyable experience as part of PAS! Thanks for reading,
