Hello beautiful people, it’s your Social Sec and Head of Marketing Katie! Being part of this society has truly changed my uni experience, it’s opened so many doors, helped me achieve incredible things, and best of all, introduced me to the greatest bestest friends ever! Being able to give back to the society that has given me so much is exactly why I’ve nominated myself for this role. I know firsthand how much of a difference a strong, supportive, and fun society can make, and seeing how amazingly our wonderful exec have supported me this year, I’m passionate about continuing that legacy for future members. So what is Katie Howard going to do ?

1. Actually know what the role is and being able to deliver.

I recognise that a lot of this role is behind the scenes and making sure that our society runs as smoothly and incredibly as it does now! This includes making sure…

~ support is given to our amazing station manager!!!

~ all the videos are published in the correct format with a description, crediting the right people and topped with our beautifully designed thumbnails and graphics

~ a written record of all the meetings is maintained and making sure it’s accessible to those who were unable to attend

~ all our online platforms are up to date ensuring that our work is showcased properly with the best possible quality

~ an up to date copy of our constitution is maintained

2. ADMIN ADMIN ADMIN!

If you couldn’t tell already from the big description above, admin is a huge part of this role and luckily it’s something I’m really confident in ;) As your Head of Marketing and Social Sec, I’ve had a lot of experience dealing with emails, publishing content and just staying organised in general. From organising your amazing Showcase and Winter Awards to making sure all our messages on every platform are answered properly and sent to the right person, I have genuinely loved keeping everything running smoothly and honestly just love writing a good email. My main goal is to take care of everything behind the scenes, so our society can do what they do best and just be amazinggg!

3. Alumni Weekend

As your beloved Social Secretary I hope I have convinced you that I deliver some amazing events and socials and cannot wait to bring my talents to Alumni Weekend. As a member who has been involved all of their first and second year I have gotten very close to a lot of alumni, (and sadly soon to be alumni) therefore I have my contacts ready to deliver a fun filled weekend with some amazing inspirational people!

4. Broadcaster

From spending an ungodly amount of time in the edit suite (including an all nighter finished with a spoons breakfast) to winning GOLD at NaSTA I am confident that I have the experience and ability to help take lead in the edit suite and deliver an amazing broadcaster and help out others with their NaSTA!

5. What am I going to add?

As an extremely active member for two years and taking on two committee roles, I’ve really dedicated a lot of time and effort to this society.

First, as a very social member, getting to know the members, especially the freshers, has been an enjoyable and important part of my experience. I always try to make sure they feel welcome and a part of our society. Creating a friendly and inclusive environment is a crucial responsibility as a committee member and I aim to achieve this further by arranging a friendly meetup with new members and help direct them into getting involved in our society.

Secondly, as Head of Marketing I really understand the demand for short-form content and believe it needs to be pushed more. To encourage this I will add an extra section to the video submission form, allowing for short-form content to also be submitted and put in requests, working with the Head of Marketing to produce more short-form content to promote our society.

Thirdly, collaboration and networking has always been something our society loves and is something I will fulfil in this role. I am currently in the works with the Manchester television station to arrange a fun city swap where they try out Otley Run and we try their equivalent and would love to do this with other television stations too! I am also eager to arrange for Networking events and getting guest speakers in the industry to speak to us.

Lastly, with the support of Head of Marketing, I want to create a shared calendar to keep everyone organised and let people know which videos are being filmed on what day.

I'm excited to run for Deputy Station Manager because I’m passionate about supporting creativity and collaboration whilst celebrating individual talent. With lots of industry experience and a strong understanding of production, tech and editing I’ll work closely with the Station Manager to keep things running smoothly behind the scenes and make sure every member feels heard and supported. I’m all about keeping the good vibes going while staying organised, reliable, and approachable. We are already an award winning station, let's make this year our biggest and best yet!

Hi, I'm Alfie , I was this years Head of Sport and LSTV'S production talent

Joining this society this year was the best decision I made and i have absolutely loved being a part of the committee. I'm very passionate about this society and it's future and I would love to have the opportunity to be on the committee once again as your Deputy Station Manager.

In just the one year that I have been involved in this society I have achieved and learnt so much from successfully leading the LSTV coverage of the Christie Cup, shortlisting for the Sport category at Nasta and gotten myself involved in various videos across the sections to understand how different parts of this society produce content.

If successful , I will ensure that I fulfil every aspect of what the role requires such as keeping the YouTube up to date with our amazing content organised in the correct format. I will also attempt to match if not go one step further on the amazing Alumni Weekend that was put on this year by our current deputy.
