Throughout my time in Leeds, the Cricket Club has provided me with everything I could ever ask for. The opportunity to give back to the Club this year through my role as fixture secretary is something that I have genuinely treasured. Since the start of the year, I’ve gathered an extensive understanding of how the club operates. By collaborating with fellow committee members, particularly the exec committee, I’ve acquired an abundance of knowledge regarding the handling of a diverse range of situations, a crucial attribute that I consider essential for every member of the exec. I therefore feel like now is the perfect time to take the step up into the exec committee. This is one of several factors prompting my application for the role of Treasurer.

There are a number of reasons why I consider myself a worthy candidate for this role. Firstly, through organising fixtures and training sessions this year, I’ve developed an excellent understanding of how much things cost. As a result, I would be very well placed when it comes to forecasting costs and creating budgets – a key role of the Club’s treasurer. By working alongside Sam, I already know how the expense system works, as well as understanding a range of other aspects of being treasurer. I feel extremely confident in creating and managing financial spreadsheets, as I’ve gained ample experience in this area during my degree. Therefore, I’d be able to ensure a seamless transition in the management of the Club’s finances when next year’s committee take the reins. Anyone who has seen my spreadsheets in all their glory at training this year will know that I’m very organised. Should I take on this role, this would be certain to continue with spreadsheets being created at every suitable opportunity. Along with the qualities I’ve mentioned above, I feel a crucial reason I should be considered for this position is the amount of time I’m willing to invest in the Club. Hopefully, this has been evident throughout the year in my efforts to be a reputable fixture secretary. If not, shame! Lastly, I fully understand and am willing to embrace the responsibilities that being on the exec committee brings outside of the stated role. I feel well positioned to tackle the challenges such a role may present.

In short, I’m confident that I have the necessary skills, attributes and experience to effectively oversee the Club's finances and ensure the security of our beloved society.
