Hi all Brucey here, I will keep this short but sweet, I would love to give back to this great club by taking on the responsibility of development secretary! I won’t bore you while reading this so will go into detail during my speech, but my main aim of the year would be to keep the boys part of the development scheme as integrated as possible within the club and main squad by giving my all in advice/coaching and as a mate. The importance of the development branch of the club shouldn’t be underestimated for it threatens superlativity. Therefore, the role of its running is personally held as one of the club’s most important. Two foundations of any club are new cricketers and getting better. My aim with this role is to accentuate these foundations through introduction of cultures and ideas to allow and cater development.

A game of bat and ball, for some exclusively ball. Friday regulars consistently not batting for lack of their own kit. Should a bat on a Friday cost the price of kit? I have begun and nearly completed the assembly of a communal kit to allow those without their own the luxury of sharing the same sweaty kit and batting week in week out.

I moved from the development branch to the main squad and am now a regular at both squads’ training session. I would like to see this progression happen more for it is evidence of development within our club. Inviting the top developing players to occasional main squad sessions would effectively challenge them and accelerate their skills. Playing at a higher-level forces faster progress and would provide valuable experience for those players to return to a Friday with things to work on. An attempt to bridge a gap.

For me, there is nothing better than observing your own improvement and it would be a privilege to facilitate this for our members. Everyone wants to get better, the means to do that should be available and obvious in a club like ours. Whilst I’m no star player, I have played the game every year for nearly 15 years and believe myself equipped to aid development. My main aim is to be a conduit for the sharing of the wealth of experienced skill residing in this club’s quality through a culture of pro-active communications of observed potential improvement. Encouraged investigation, to ask and to offer observations for development’s sake.
