As someone who’s uni experience has been made so much better by LUUMCC, I am happy to be applying for the position of social secretary next year. I thoroughly believe I can play a part in maintaining and even improving the already thriving social aspect of our club.

First and foremost, I always have the wellbeing of the club and it’s members at the forefront of my mind. I believe that, as much as the cricket itself, club events and socials are what allow the club to develop by building friendships between members. With regards to planning and hosting these events, I aim to organise and create socials that involve and are good fun for everyone. I believe I am capable of doing this as I have strong connections with a large number of club members, and feel confident in asking more senior members for advice wherever necessary.

With regards to the organisation of socials, I have good experience through the running of freshers fightback, where I learned what goes into the planning of socials, as well as how to improvise plans when things don’t go as imagined. Furthermore, I now understand the financial responsibilities of the role and the importance to gain a good idea of attendance numbers for socials so that we always have the right amount of “equipment” that we need.

In all, I would love to be able to build on the work of previous committees in growing and developing the society in stature, maintaining the tradition of the holy trinity and ensure that it is something that people can look forward too every week, and increase enthusiasm for Thursday rollovers as a means to create stronger bonds between new freshers and current seniors.

It’s fair to say I am not the biggest drinker, but christ do I love a social and I would love even more to see some of your faces if I got given the honour of telling some silly freshers and potentially seniors to chop it, in a rather posh tone! All in all bobs ya uncle, keep well. Kachow!!

Hello gents. As I'm sure many of you know by now, I am an absolute sucker for the social side of this club and it has served me extremely well over the course of the year. Consequently, the prospect/honour of being able to put myself forward for a prestigious role like social secretary excites me beyond belief. However, I am fully aware it's not all fun and games. I pride myself on being an organised and level-headed individual, who is capable of putting together a well-stocked and vibrant social calendar. Hopefully, this was displayed at what they call, 'freshers fightback'. I would endeavour to make sure every social event would be enjoyed by all and would look to include as many people as possible, from complete badgers to purely social members. I would also love to add something new to the calendar, either by building on current socials or adding new ones. Plenty of ideas are circulating. Finally, I would like to reiterate just how seriously I would take this role, and how serious my love for this club is. It would be an honour to serve you.
