I believe I would make a great Activities Co-ordinator for Sandwich Runs at HOMED due to a variety of reasons. After having a years experience taking part in HOMED Sandwich Runs and also being fortunate enough to have attended hostel visits and fundraising events with the society, I feel very comfortable engaging with all members and meeting new people. My experiences volunteering with the society have also enabled me to better understand some of the many challenges faced by homeless people in our community. As a Co-ordinator I would ensure all members partaking in activities felt comfortable and well-supported, creating a judgement-free zone to support and raise awareness about homelessness in Leeds. I would love the opportunity to become even more involved in a society I am very passionate about and encourage more people to join HOMED through GIAGs, fun social events for members and working collaboratively with other volunteering societies, local community projects and charities.

I am Megan, an approachable third year Sociology, Social Policy and Crime student and I am thrilled to be running for Food Run Coordinator this year. Having been involved with Homed for the past two years, participating in food runs, hostel visits and attending socials, I feel I am well-equipped to take the next step and lead the food runs. I have also volunteered for three years at my local soup kitchen, giving me lots of experience in interacting with those who are sleeping on the streets and a drive to continue to help in this way. Being on the Sociology and Criminology Society committee last year reflects my organisational and collaboration skills and I am excited to be an active member of a committee again, especially to work with the other Food Run Coordinator.

As a Food Run Coordinator, I am keen to bring my friendly and enthusiastic attitude to this position, making sure all volunteers feel safe and comfortable, as well as those we are serving. I will announce sandwich runs in batches so the slots do not fill up all at once and release them a week in advance, so volunteers can plan ahead. I feel really passionately about helping and seeing those who are often overlooked and forgotten, therefore believe I will be a great fit as a Food Run Coordinator.
