Hello Everybody!💖
My name is Melis McNabola and I’m a law student here in Leeds and currently running for events officer at Turkic Society next year!!

My biggest priority is that we organize events that match everybody’s preferences and organize a variety of events so that there is something for everyone, where everyone can be active, social and enjoy themselves outside of uni work :)

Some of my ideas are;
- Having social nights like Game Night, Turkic Food Night, Turkic movie and Music Nights.
- Organizing special events for sports lovers such as watching big matches like national football, volleyball & basketball games (Including derby matches from leagues)
- Organizing sports events within our society like football matches where you can play with your friends.
- For everyone who likes activities, adding more events alongside Bowling, such as Mini Golf and Go Carting.
- For art lovers, adding workshop events like pottery painting, tote bag painting etc.
- For anyone out there who loves a night out, having socials at student club nights and chill bar/pub nights.
- For coffee lovers (including Turkish coffee!) meetings in local coffee shops around Leeds.
- Organizing a big Turkic Society Dinner
- Day trips as a society to places like Manchester, York, Whitby or anywhere in the UK you would like to explore.
- Collaborating with other societies across the University, having joint events to make more friends!
- Additionally, getting in touch with other universities Turkic societies to organize events to expand our community.
- Making specific events in the time of what’s happening in Leeds, like visiting Leeds Light Night, Christmas Market, Concerts and Popular films in cinema.
- Organizing at least one meet up in a week at the Student Union.

These are only some of my ideas, and I am open to every idea and suggestion from anybody who likes to contribute. I know that I can make an impact on our society as I had a similar role before attending university. My biggest aim is to increase the attendance in society events and make our society more active, social and a place where we can celebrate the Turkic Community altogether. Hii everyone I'm Yağmur 😊 I'm a first year medical engineering student. I am super excited to get involved and organise many events for the society. I have a few ideas about some events, such as:

Cultural game day: A fun-filled day with traditional games from our Turkic cultures. From dodgeball (yakartop) to okey, it's all about good times.

Turkish movie night: We'll screen some classic Turkish films with popcorn and blankets.

Cultural dress day: Whether you rock traditional attire or put your own cultural fashion.

Turkic dishes day: Where everyone brings their favourite dishes and introduces their home town.
And so many more events…

Komunist, milliyetçi, maocu, turan sevdalisi, militarist, cevre aktivisti, Atatürkcu, ümmet aşığı, kemalizmin kalesi, Turkic society nin son ümidi bu fakir, adaylığını Turkic society ye gönül verenlere arz etmektedir.

Saka bir yana, ortak Türk mirasımıza olan derin tutkumla, Turkic Society'deki Events officer olarak adaylığımı sunmaktan heyecan duyuyorum. Leeds'teki iki yılımı baktigimda, topluluğumuzun büyük bir potansiyeli olduğunu ancak özellikle etkinlik sıklığı ve çeşitliliği açısından bu potansiyeli tam olarak gerçekleştiremediğini gördüm. Geçen akademik yılı süresince, topluluk sadece dört veya beş etkinlik düzenleyebildi, bu da bizim başarabileceklerimizden çok daha az.

Kendimden bahsetmek gerekirse, ben Bedir Leblebici Azerbaycan doğumlu, kazakistan da büyüyüp yetismis bir bireyim ve su an da bilgisayar mühendisliği okuyorum. Maalesef ki, Türk diasporasi tum dunyada sifira yakin olduğu gibi leeds sehrinde de temsiliyetimiz cok düşük. Kendimizi diger insanlara ve milletlere tanitmamizin en iyi yolununda yapacagimiz etkinliklerden gectigine inandigim icin events officer rolüne adayligimi koymus bulunmaktayim.

Toplulugumuzun, gozlemledigim en buyuk ikinci sorunu ise orta osyali Türk kökenli insanlara ulasamamasi ve hitap edememesidir. Etkinliklerimizde baklava ve turk kahvesi gibi şeylere yer verildigi gibi diger turk ulklereni de yansitan yiyecek ve iceceklerin bulundurulmasi taraftariyim ve eger secilirsem, bunlari hayata geçirmek icin ugrasacagim.

Insanlari bir araya getirmek ve arkadaş canlisi bir ortam olusturmak ilk hedefim olacak.

Ayrica bir antepli olarak baklavanin hasini getirmekde vaadim olsun.

Hi everyone, my name is Bedir Leblebici, born in Azerbaijan and raised in Kazakhstan, and I am currently studying computer science. Unfortunately, the representation of the Turkic diaspora is almost non-existent worldwide, and this is also the case in Leeds. I believe that the best way to introduce ourselves to other people and nations is through the events we organize, which is why I am putting myself forward for the role of Events Officer.

With a deep passion for our shared Turkic heritage, I am excited to nominate myself for the position of Events Officer in the Turkic Society. Reflecting on my two years in Leeds, I have observed that our community has great potential, but especially in terms of the frequency and variety of events, it has not fully realized this potential. Throughout the last academic year, the community managed to organize only four or five events, which is far less than what we are capable of.


The second biggest issue I have observed in our community is the inability to reach and appeal to Central Asian Turkic people. While our events include things like baklava and Turkish coffee, I am a proponent of also including food and drinks that reflect other Turkic countries. If elected, I will strive to implement these.

Bringing people together and creating a friendly atmosphere will be my primary goal

Additionally, as someone from Gaziantep, let me promise to bring the finest baklava.
