Hi, I'm Arron J Thompson, and I'm running for President of PhySoc.
I’m currently serving as Vice President, and over the past year, I’ve loved working with our amazing committee to help grow and shape the society. Now, I’m ready to take things to the next level.

I’ve got a strong background in leadership, having been part of the Laidlaw Leadership and Research Programme here at Leeds — an experience that really honed my skills in communication, collaboration, and strategic planning. Right now, I’m organising our flagship event, the PhySoc Ball, which has been an incredible opportunity to develop my organisational abilities (and make sure everyone has a great time, of course!).

Before this, I was Treasurer of AstroSoc, where I managed budgets and kept everything financially on track. So when it comes to leading a student society — both socially and financially — I’ve got hands-on experience and a real passion for it.

As President, my main goal is to elevate PhySoc to Gold Affiliate status. That means more conferences, outreach events, and — you guessed it — plenty of socials. I want to make sure PhySoc is a society that caters to everyone, whether you're into academia, public engagement, or just looking to meet new people and have fun.
