I am a 2nd year human resource management student from Saudi Arabia! My gender identity, cultural backgroun, and university course have all played a part in my interest in diversity, equity, and inclusion.
During first year, I was part of the LUU’s Liberation and International Student Network, where I was able to work with the union to ensure that students of all different backgrounds love their time at Leeds! This year I will also be working alongside the LUU and the Equality Officer towards the same goal.
My aims as an Equality and Diversity Officer is to ensure upcoming FemSoc events are accessible and enjoyable by student of all backgrounds, collaborate with Events Officer and other societies to organise events which create an inclusive environment for women (such as a Ramadan Iftar event, or a WLW movie screening 3). I would also make sure to keep the committee in check, continue to use inclusive language, and ensure events are accessible to students with disabilities or impairments
