Hi! My name is Elliott and I will soon be entering into my second year of studying Sustainability. I have always had an immense interest in both BPM and DJing in Leeds, reaching out to the society prior to even moving in. Visiting friends and flat parties here during my gap year highlighted the quality of the mixing community in the city, which I would love to connect through a variety of exciting socials. As event organiser, I would continue existing events such as Open Deck nights and workshops, as well as promote new ideas such as basement events and club nights at favourite venues such as Wire. Using my experience as social sec over the past year, in combination with my upcoming role as evening editor of LSR, I am hoping to form strong links throughout members of the society and contribute to an already thriving scene. #VoteElliottAndSofia

Hey everyone! My names Sofia, I’ve been at Leeds for nearly 2 years now studying psychology. Ive always had such a passion for music and it was coming to Leeds that really sparked my love for DJing. Having my first year in lockdown really was a blessing in a way, I spent every night doing something I loved, running from flat to flat with my DDJ 400s mixing was one the highlights of my first year. However this year has been a step up and I’ve loved every minute of it. I started DJing at open deck nights and then recently had my first set at Old Red. Id love to inspire others to really get invloved as it can be daunting especially in such a good music scene like Leeds. As event officer id love to encourage more people to try and practice their DJing in more public settings by hosting more open deck nights and workshops for the society. Having been a social sec for the yoga society I’ve had experience with organising socials in the city and contacting venues, therefore id be very comfortable organising and reaching out to venues such as Old Red and Wire to potentially host events for the society. Obviously it being a massive responsibilty to organise events, its essential you have a good partner in crime. Elliot Booth who is also running for events officer is a good friend of mine and has previously been involved in BPM and I feel we would make a great team in making this year jam packed with creative and exciting things for you lot.
