Holly Reynolds
Good morning LUUWLC ๐โฆ I would like to continue on the amazing applications by putting myself forward to be next years โจFirst Team Captainโจ!
If you were to tell me 2 years ago that I would be nominating myself for this position having little lacrosse experience pre uni I wouldโve said no way! But the way the likes of Holly & Mills ๐as well as our current captains Lucy & Sadie ๐ have encouraged, motivated and taught me created the player I am today, I think I can firmly say I now know the rules ๐.
For those of you who donโt know me, my name is Holly and I have been in the first team for the last two years. But I reckon Iโm best known as either hockey fresh or the ghost of lacrosse ๐ป.
Iโm running for this role because I love this sport ๐ฅ, Instagram reel likes will prove it, and genuinely have had the best BEST time playing and developing my skills around some unbelievably talented, as well as some international (cough cough did you know Lucy Evans played for England ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ and Lulu Macleod played for Scotland ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ ), players. I am dedicated to this team even to the point of sacrificing myself to go in goal as well as diving around in muddy bodington to attempt to stop players getting past me.
Even tho my lacrosse experience may be lacking I have had experience captaining my school and club first teams in hockey and netball, as well as my most recent captaincy for our very own lacrosse cricket team ๐. I would consider myself understanding, caring and hard working, which youโd hope for a student nurse, which I believe are key qualities needed for a captain ๐ฅฐ.
What I would bring to the table:
๐ฅ use my knowledge and passion (as well as my top notch banter) to provide useful, effective and fun fitness sessions on a Monday ๐ช๐ป
๐ฅ Due to inside connections, big flex incoming: if you didnโt know I work at the edge, to hopefully be able to move training times/ space on a Monday to incorporate more game situational fitness and stick skill drills ๐ค
๐ฅ Motivation, positivity and good vibes to all sessions and games. Tuesday night training is genuinely my favourite time of the week where the tunes are blasting and dance moves are out. As well as my top notch teachers pet skills to impress, ๐ค๐ปLiv Whimpenny ๐ค๐ป
๐ฅ A banging selection of sweets for half time and oranges (letโs bring these back!) ๐
๐ฅ Due to the massive surge of Strava accounts in Womens lacrosse this year I would like to begin a Leeds Lacrosse run club (donโt worry not compulsory) just an invitation to anyone that wants to go for a fun chilled run ๐๐ผโโ๏ธ
๐ฅ Finally, I may or may not have connections at other uni lacrosse clubs (not that we are Sheffields biggest fans) that we could arrange friendlyโs and mixed lacrosse games to get in extra practise and hopefully make friends ๐ฌ
Sorry waffle over! I just canโt help myself ๐คฆ๐ปโโ๏ธ I love you all and I love this sport and hopefully this shows you why I would be a good captain for next years first team. Live, love, lax, LEEDS LEEDS LEEDS!!!! ๐๐๐
Also insert photo of the legend that is Collette Reynolds (ex England lacrosse player) who gave me her lacrosse abilities and if you want an autograph just hit me up ๐

Catherine (Katie) Young
My name is Katie and will be running for โจ 1st team captainโจ.
I am a second year and most of you will know me as half of the dynamic duo (Kate and myself) = the B&D coaches!! ๐ฅ
Coaching this year along side @Kate (who you should all vote for pres!) has been a hugely rewarding experience and the fact that 137 of you lovely people paid to spend time with us hopefully means you enjoyed it as much as we did! ๐๐
Quick facts:
๐ I am a second year medical student ๐ฉบ- which means I can confirm then when you cut me I do in fact #bleed green.
๐Coached U13/U15 girls for 4 years - if there is one thing scarier than Durham its 13 year olds, and coaching them really taught be the importance of patience and positive motivation to help everyone play their best
๐Qualified umpire (4 years) - I know the rules (even if I don't agree mid game especially with silly men refs or *cough cough* Sheffield- who sent me off for winning the draw @holly you can pass on my thoughts)
๐I was captain for my home team - I played for my home club Timperley (best club in Manchester @lottiefraney will confirm) for about 10 years #committment and leading a group of talented and lovely people were some of my best memories growing up so I would love the opportunity to do it again
๐I am truly a #livelovelaxer anyone who knows me knows how much I love this sport. I have played since I was 7 back in my pop lacrosse days and ever since I havenโt been able to get enough! (See evidence of 11 year old braces era Katie at the Lacrosse World Cup). With this I hope to bring all the passion I have the sport to ensure everyone as least nearly enjoys it as much as I do. ๐๐๐ญ๐ญ
My aims if you choose me:
๐ฅ Vibes high and standard higher I do really think this could be our year for promotion but it wonโt be easy so I want to make sure all the sessions are challenging but also motivating so that everyone still wants to show up even in week 10 when itโs dark and cold.
๐ฅ It's not just about winning games (but also about winning games), is making sure everyone in this team feels like they belong, is supported, and gets the absolute most out of their time here.
Specifics:
โ Set plays: I want to bring more structured set plays for attack and defence - to help us feel more confident especially in high pressured games
โ Monday training: use Mondays to work on fitness (yes running!) so we can storm past the opposition ๐โโ๏ธ,core skills (shooting/dodging drills) - we can use this new fancy footwork ๐ in both matches and the Popworld dance floor, and tactical drills (whiteboard time) so we can boost our IQs and outsmart the opposition. ๐ง ๐
โ Tuesday training: Weโre lucky to (hopefully) have GB captain Liv Wimpenny coaching us again this year โ Iโll make the most of her experience by planning with her in advance to tailor sessions around what we want to improve.
โ Team bonding: more past nights, film nights, club runs - even more time to catch up on Wednesday night antics
โ -(potential) Match day coach: if we pray hard enough to the universe (Midwife overlords ๐ถ) then we might have our former 1s captain (who did you know played for England?) back as a match-day coach ๐ - having such a stacked coaching team will probably be spenny but I will do everything I can to have them ๐ค
Thanks to LUUWLCโ Iโve grown so much as a player and a person. (Thank you to Holly and Mills but also @Sadie and @Lucy - you have both been such great captains and created such a warm atmosphere and we've just had so much fun thanks to you both!)๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ
Now, I want to give that back. I promise bring as much energy as possible to every session lead from the front #twowaymiddie on and off the pitch.
But more than anything, I want to keep that culture weโve built โ where we work hard and still have a laugh along the way (like on when we get battered by Durham 2s) ๐คฉ
If you think Iโm the right person to lead us into what could be a massive year (promotion time finally ๐คand all the extra funding it brings for everyone ๐ธ) Iโd love your vote.
Thank you โ and up the Leeds ๐ฆ !"

Hi everyone, I'm Lottie and I'll be running for 1st team captain!!!๐ฅ๐
If you don't know me, I'm the tall, blonde, 2nd year medic ๐ฉบ on the 1st team who is originally from Manchester - no no no, not the mid one (get it... since Katie is a middy), I'm the hilariously funny, incredibly smart and phenomenal wonder of a lacrosse player one.
I have played for the 1st team since I was a fresher and have played lacrosse for over a decade, where I have previously captained both my school and home club teams, and coached a range of ages at summer camps (and if i could manage to coach 6 year olds, I can defo coach a hung over Kate Driscoll post Bobby's๐บ).
Whilst I'm not exactly a BUCS merchant like my other twin, I am probably a secret ๐ฅLive Love Laxer๐ฅ (as much as I don't like to admit it). So much so that I played numerous matches and attended multiple trainings with a broken ankle ๐ฉป (as a medic, I'm not condoning my actions). I also regularly trek home through the rough, mountainous terrain of the M62 to play for the ACTUAL best club in Manchester practically every weekend (I can't be letting my idol and Stockport teammate Chloe Chan down now can I), showing a level of commitment I should probably start putting towards my degree ๐ฉบ (pls also note Katie young is not allowed to play in her club match against my team next week cos she hasn't played enough home team matches this season #whereisthecommitmentnow )
Some of my proudest Leeds lax achievements so far include:
๐ Winning Christie Cup in my first year ๐
๐ Making my placement's 8am start time post Christie fruities
๐ My pint chop time of 5.83s ๐ซก (vid at end)
๐ and Making memories and friends that will last a life time (ew soppy)
Now, I know you're all wondering, what can I bring to the team?
Since our amazing attack and middies are always doing their jobs and keeping the ball away from us in defence, I find that I'm constantly using my lacrosse knowledge to observe the pitch and analyse our skills , looking at what's working and what we might need to change to improve our play.
As some of you will know, I'm also never afraid to share my thoughts in the half time team talks. Whilst I do tend to waffle on a bit (as you've probs already guessed by the length of this), and I can - just occasionally - be a little bit of a negative Nancy, I always come with the right intentions.
As previously mentioned, I also have top tier skills in chopping pints ๐บ๐บ๐บ. Having held the top position in the club for 2 years in row ๐ฅ (maybe my proudest achievement), it's clear I never hesitate when it comes to drinking Amstel, just like I have no hesitation when making interceptions, stopping goals, and blocking those fast breaks ๐ฅ . And that's because greatness is about consistency: on the pitch, off the pitch, at training, and in the football hub at bod after getting DOD for knowing the ref.
Hopefully next year we will get our hands on GB player ๐ฅLiv Wimpenny๐ฅ to coach us and I'll be sure to work with Liv to let her know our strengths and weaknesses from the match prior and plan trainings accordingly. However, if LUU decide to be stingy with our funding and we don't get her ๐, I can also bring the skills and resources to be able to come up with fancy drills and set plays that can help us destroy Durham and win the league once again (aka I can nab a few off my home club teammate and England player Chloe Chan and ask our lord and saviour ๐Chat GPT๐ for help). Plus, I'm technically the only player on the team with an actual coaching qualification so who needs Miss GB anyway (please Liv I'm joking we would love to have you coach us ๐๐ค๐).
But here I am waffling on again. Alana de Caires here's a short summary of all of that since I know u stopped paying attention half way through - as captain, Iโd provide the 3 most important things that help create a good team:
โ Positivity
โ Positivity
โ Positivity
โ (And my decade of lax experience, in game analysis, and the priceless qualities gained by my coaching and umpire qualifications)
My aims for the club:
๐ฅ Making 1 Monday a month a club wide run so that we can improve our fitness whilst bonding more across all the teams
๐ฅ Speaking of team bonding: have more pasta nights ๐๐๐ - whilst it wont be comparable to the Michelin star standard of food provided by Lucy and Sadie this year, I promise I'll make it as tasty as possible (Talia Dimson I will need ur help pls)
๐ฅ Most importantly, I'd ensure to bring back the pride and joy of Leeds Lax #lacrossipgirl
No but making it all soppy again. I have truly loved playing for LUUWLC for the past 2 years, and I have made so many memories and the bestest of friends. I have learnt so much from my team mates and developed so much as a player and a person. This last year, our wonderful captains Sadie Zenios and Lucy Evans and our amazing pres Rosie Makant have created such a welcoming and friendly environment and I'd love to carry that through to next year as one of your captains. Thanks :)
