Hey Leeds laxers, I’m Kate and I’m running for President

I’m a 2nd-year with 2 years of committee experience, first as 2s Captain and now as Beginners and Development Sec. From playing on the 1s to coaching 137 of you B&D girls, I’ve seen the society grow from all angles and have learned so much from Rosie and Georgia’s presidencies.

Lacrosse has shaped my University experience. I've played alongside my closest friends, have looked forward to every Thursday coaching, and even roped my housemates into becoming 2nd-year freshers. The moments of showing up for each other on and off the pitch whilst playing with smiles and laughter makes this society so special. This is the energy I want to carry forward as President.

But building this culture also means advocating for the recognition and resources we deserve. I’ve represented the society at Union-level meetings, pushing for greater equity between men’s and women’s sports with a presentation to the University board in May.

As President, I will keep speaking up by:
- Pushing for more funding and transparency from the Union’s Gryphon fund
- Elevating the visibility of lacrosse and women's sport across the University
- Securing elite BUCS coaching (GB Captain Liv Whimpenny) through Union grants
- Backing B&D with the resources and opportunities to compete and grow

Growing women's sport is also about the culture we create. I want Leeds Lacrosse to lead by example and show up for other sports.
This means:
- Building a community where women back women, on and off the pitch
- Turning up to other GIAGs
- Cheering other sports on sidelines

I'm ready to give back to the club that's given me so much. I'll bring energy, organisation, and a clear vision for how we can keep pushing forward.

I cannot wait to see what next year brings. And yes, I will still make it to Popworld.
