I have been an active member of Cutting Edge for 2 years, recently completing the suturing course and volunteering as a patient in the mock OSCEs. I would love the opportunity to be part of a team of like minded people and share my passion for surgery, particularly cardiac and trauma. I have previous committee experience as Secretary of Leeds University St John Ambulance, which has enabled me to develop my skills in organising events for large groups of students. As part of my role I lead regular first aid sessions, giving me experience in public speaking and thinking innovatively in order to keep everyone engaged. I also volunteer to teach school students first aid as a Youth Leader, giving me experience with a variety of ages. Therefore, I have the necessary skills to advise students about the pathway to medicine and surgery. I would be eager to further develop these skills as the Outreach Officer and represent the society on 6th form visits.
