I am excited to express my interest in the role of Diversity and Inclusion Officer for Cutting Edge. As a woman from an ethnic minority background who is passionate about Orthopaedic surgery, I am acutely aware of the lack of representation of women and individuals from underrepresented groups in surgery. I am committed to promoting the importance of diversity in surgery and advocating for increased representation of women and diverse groups in surgical specialties. With my experience, I will work towards developing a space that encourages more individuals from underrepresented groups to pursue careers in surgery and support their success once they are in the field.

Moreover, my track record of working with individuals from low-socioeconomic backgrounds and delivering talks on diversity in medicine reflects my commitment to creating a more inclusive environment in healthcare. As the Diversity and Inclusion Officer, I would be eager to utilise this experience to ensure that all members, regardless of their background or identity, feel supported and empowered to pursue their interests in surgery.

Finally, as a consultant to the committee, I will provide guidance on matters related to equity and inclusion. I will work with the committee to assess the potential impact of proposed events or actions from a diversity and inclusion perspective by networking with members of the society and beyond. By doing so, we can ensure that our decisions and activities are inclusive of all members regardless of their background or identity.

I am excited about the opportunity to serve as the Diversity and Inclusion Officer for Cutting Edge and am eager to contribute to the society's mission to promote diversity and inclusion in the surgical field.
