While I have not been a member of the society for long, I have thoroughly enjoyed every event I have attended and would love to contribute towards the future of RealAle. As someone who studies mathematics, and will be going on to work in the financial industry, the position of treasurer is best suited towards both my passions and skill set. I already have a strong understanding of finances and will use our budget to aid in organising great events and trips without any financial issues. I would love to explore opportunities to make events more affordable and maximise value for members, ensuring the membership fee is put to full use. For example, I hope to collaborate with other members in the committee to organise society discounts for our favourite local pubs. Additionally, I would like to ensure a specific “beer fund” that sets aside money for events such as beer tasting or travel/tickets to beer festivals exists and operates effectively. Through my degree, I have developed skills in “doing maths when drunk” and so I will consistently be able to keep an eye on the society's financial health. I know that I will be able to collaborate with the wider committee to make sure that the funding for their ideas is available and consistently keep both them and the wider society up to date with financial records.
