I’m currently a 2nd year Journalism student and LSTV’s head of news, this means that i spend 90% of my time dedicated to LSTV and 10% of it dedicated to my degree (the way it should be).

I knew for LSTV next year that I wanted to be on committee (whos suprised) but I wasn’t sure on which role, until i really started thinking and realised that culture encompasses a huge range of things and can lend itself to nearly anything (with ofc some exceptions). The variety of experiences and oppertunities is my favorite thing about LSTV, so this role felt like a natural fit. One thing that I struggled with this year was encouraging people to initally get involved with news, but with culture I believe that since there are preset events, I will feel much more comfatable with the idea of heading video concepts and will allow me to be much more decisive, allowing for greater video output. of cource we will be continuing the traditions (light night, culture fair, freshers fair etc), but I think we can expand this and introduce more leeds student culture into our videos. A scavanger hunt along the otley route, bakery 164 taste test, guess the Leeds night out, there are so many iconic Leeds Universities events and stereotypes that we can build upon to embrace the (sometimes cringe) student culture you wouldn’t find anywhere else.
