Hi everyone,
My name is Julia and I’m currently in second year. I’m excited to put myself forward for the role of societies rep.

Firstly, I would like to mention my dedication to the role and my willingness to work tirelessly along side my fellow committee members to be the voice of our peers to the medical school. If elected, I pledge to be an approachable contact who will work to improve our societies in any way that I can.

Since joining Leeds, I have actively engaged in various extracurricular activities, including sport and music, honing my organizational skills in balancing these, and fostering collaborative relationships. I have attended countless GIAGs throughout my two years and understand how pivotal a role societies play in our transition into university. Societies allow for balance in our heavy medical curriculum and provide each of us an outlet to foster good mental well-being which is so important for us as future clinicians. They also allow for us to keep up with hobbies and skills that we are passionate about.

I understand that the role calls for an organised individual who is willing to work hard and work as a team alongside the sports rep to liase between the societies and act as a point of contact for MSRC. I bring to the table a proven track record of leadership and organisation having taken up many leadership and council roles throughout high school and college. As a student council member, I have extensive experience in being the voice for my student body and I feel this is crucial to any of member of MSRC but particularly for the societies rep as they are speaking on behalf of the many different medic societies we have as a university.

I am excited to put my name forward for Society Sec.
During my first year I have been actively involved in different societies both in sport and non-sport.
Our societies act as a platform for our hobbies, fitness, socialising and so much more. We can turn to them when the normal day gets too stressful – or just to have fun.
Med School can be tough, and I have seen first-hand how different societies can provide an escape from the textbook. This has shown me the importance of societies in shaping our journeys through Uni.
I will act collaboratively, resourcefully and proactively to speak to you and work as a team to improve our societies in any way that I can.
Your vote means a lot to me, and I will use it to maintain and improve our clubs for the next year and beyond.
