Hi, I’m Lakshmi and I’d love to be one of the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion reps! I think it’s so important to make sure the medical school is as inclusive as possible and that everyone feels welcome and supported.

My name is Jaudan and I would like to run for EDI rep to represent medical students coming from disadvantaged backgrounds, this is because I resonate with these type of students and want to provide the right support given my similar experiences.

I have also been on MSRC for 3 years and have a well grounded experience in student representation.

Hello! I'm Shaan, currently a 2nd year medical student, with a history of serving on EDI committees in educational settings.
I strongly believe that EDI needs emphasis in medical education to ensure the next generation of healthcare professionals are empathetic to diverse patient experiences and students feel valued, enhancing overall well-being and mental health
In past EDI centred roles I have mitigated conflicts surrounding gender identity, sexuality, gender, disability and ethnicity; I was able to then successfully implement advice from feedback into the School to promote inclusion.

Examples include:
- tailored displays to support those with red-green colourblindness
- the option for faculty and students to record their pronouns into the school system
- allowing students to nominate religious occasions and cultural celebrations into the school calendar for acknowledgement and education
- presenting seminars on the impacts of menopause on women in the workplace to offer support for a majority female faculty.
As EDI rep, I would build upon my own diverse experiences to actively engage with students, amplify diverse voices, and collaborate on initiatives that enhance the overall well-being and representation of our medical school community.

Hi Everyone! I’m Shan, a second-year medical student, and I’m excited to announce my candidacy for the role of EDI representative. My unwavering dedication to equity, diversity, and inclusion has driven me to actively participate in numerous diversity events, engage in community outreach programs, and initiate candid conversations. These experiences have uniquely equipped me to advocate for marginalized voices and address systemic barriers within our medical school community.

With my strong communication skills and collaborative approach, I am committed to fostering an inclusive environment where every student feels valued and supported. As your EDI representative, I am ready to passionately champion diversity and work towards creating a more equitable and inclusive medical school community.
