I wish to nominate myself as social secretary of the nursing society.

I enjoy planning events for my family and friends and being part of the organisation behind the scenes. I have planned many events for large groups throughout my time at secondary school within my role of head girl and for family parties.

Due to me using social media as a large platform of awareness for mental health nursing which is the field I am studying, I feel that I will be able to use my passion for this when running the social media accounts of the society.

I think it is really important for fun and engaging social activities to be planned for the nursing society due to the high pressures we are under as student nurses and it is perfect for us to let go from studies and placement. Therefore allowing time for lively as well as relaxing events for us nurses with similar interests but also stepping away from this to enjoy time getting to know each other and having exciting things to look forward to.

I feel that social media is so important and is the main platform in todays society for people to engage with each other and be aware of events and information within the society. As social secretary I will ensure that social media platforms are kept engaging and respond to peoples questions and queries.

Engaging with other societies is also important within the role of social secretary to allow people to interact with other courses, especially close to nursing such as midwifery and medicine. The events like the Nursing and Midwifery Ball which I attended last year shows the successful event planning that the society develop and I ensure when taking over as social secretary that I will live up to opportunities that the amazing previous committee have provided.
