The Secretary General of the University of Leeds Rifle Society plays a crucial role in supporting the committee and ensuring the smooth operation of the society. This position focuses on member well-being, transport coordination, and safety management. The Secretary will help create a safe, supportive, and efficient environment for all society activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Administrative Support:
- Provide administrative assistance to the committee, including organizing meetings, preparing agendas, and taking minutes.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of membership, attendance, and communications.
- Assist in managing the society’s correspondence and documentation.
Member Well-being:
- Develop and implement initiatives to support the well-being of society members.
- Act as a point of contact for members seeking advice or support related to their well-being.
- Organize workshops and events focused on mental health and well-being.
Transport Coordination:
- Arrange and coordinate transport for society events, competitions, and training sessions.
- Ensure all transport arrangements comply with university policies and safety regulations.
- Manage logistics for travel, including scheduling, booking, and communicating arrangements to members.
Safety Management:
- Support the Captain and Vice Captain in ensuring all activities comply with safety regulations and university policies.
- Assist in conducting safety briefings and training sessions for new and existing members.
- Maintain and manage safety equipment and ensure it is regularly inspected and in good working condition.
Communication and Outreach:
- Communicate effectively with members, providing timely information about society activities and initiatives.
- Promote a positive and inclusive culture within the society.
- Collaborate with other committee members to support the overall management and growth of the society.
Requirements:
- Experience: Previous experience in administrative roles, event planning, or member support is desirable.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and support members.
- Commitment: A dedicated and proactive approach, with the willingness to commit time and effort to the role.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to handle logistical challenges and ensure smooth operations.
