The Public Relations Officer of the University of Leeds Rifle Society is responsible for managing the society’s public image and communication strategies. This role involves promoting the society’s activities, engaging with current and prospective members, and maintaining a positive presence both within the university and the wider community.

Key Responsibilities:

Communication and Promotion:

  • Develop and implement communication strategies to promote the society’s activities and events.
  • Create engaging content for social media platforms, the society’s website, and newsletters.
  • Manage the society’s social media accounts, ensuring regular and relevant updates.

Media Relations:

  • Build and maintain relationships with local and university media outlets.
  • Prepare and distribute press releases and media kits for society events and achievements.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for media inquiries and coordinate media coverage.

Member Engagement:

  • Develop and implement strategies to engage with current members and attract new members.
  • Organize and promote events, workshops, and activities to enhance member participation.
  • Gather and analyze feedback from members to improve communication and engagement efforts.

Outreach and Networking:

  • Represent the society at university events, fairs, and other promotional opportunities.
  • Collaborate with other university societies and external organizations for joint events and initiatives.
  • Develop partnerships with sponsors and stakeholders to support the society’s goals.

Brand Management:

  • Ensure all communication materials are consistent with the society’s brand and values.
  • Design and produce promotional materials such as flyers, posters, and banners.
  • Maintain an up-to-date and visually appealing website and social media presence.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Previous experience in public relations, communications, marketing, or a related field is desirable.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to create engaging content.
  • Creativity: Strong creative skills, with the ability to design visually appealing promotional materials.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in social media platforms, content management systems, and graphic design software.
