Hi I'm Lex! I'm running for social sec because BJJ socials have been the highlight of my first year at Leeds and I want to give the same experience to future members next year :)

I’m running for Social Secretary because while we all love training, it’s the socials that really matter, and end up being the memories we take with us after uni.

BJJ is already great for building skills, but it’s the socials that turn teammates into actual friends (and give us stories we’ll probably regret the next morning). I want to organise events people genuinely want to show up to, not just say “yeah maybe” to in the gc.

This sport is great for building skills that will shape us both mentally and physically, but our socials are what turn our fellow society members into actual friends (and give us stories we’ll probably regret the next morning). I want to help organise events people genuinely look forward to as a break from the stress of uni, not something that’ll response like “yeh maybe” in the gc.

Whether it’s post-training food or drinks, nights out, or something a bit different. My aims are simple, promote our socials. Capture the best, and maybe worst moments at the socials. Help promote and grow our society, so that we can get more training sessions on campus.

I’ve already helped organise some BJJ socials and have been involved in a few other societies, so with this experience I feel confident enough to take on this role and fulfil its expectations.

Vote for me and I promise a year of solid socials, questionable decisions, and a team that’s just as strong off the mats as on them.
