Hi my name is Luca, I’m a fresher, and I am running to become one of the freshers rep for Leeds PSG!

Growing up I’ve always had a real hunger for justice, so I’ve always asked myself questions like what can I do for Palestine? How can I get more involved? So when the opportunity to run for freshers rep for Leeds PSG came up I wasted no time in applying for the role!

I as a fresher myself understand all too well the complexities and even hardships faced when as a fresher you are trying to support Palestine at university but also trying to “fit in” and make new friends. I get it, supporting Palestine at uni, especially if you’re an ethnic minority (like myself) can be tough especially if people on your course, accommodation etc don’t necessarily share the same support. That’s why as freshers rep I will personally invite any fresher (or anyone for that matter) who os struggling with confidence in showing support for Palestine at uni to reach out to me for advice etc. The main advice though I would say now to my fellow freshers would be to be bold, be brave, and never be afraid to publicly show your support for our oppressed Palestinian brothers and sisters! Whether that be wearing your Keffiyeh around campus, talking about Palestine in lectures and seminars, or even turning up to one of the PSG events, as a fresher never be afraid to show your love and support for Palestine at Leeds! I want to change how Palestine is viewed by the majority at Leeds university, I want people to be aware that Palestine is not just a trend yet a real country with real people who right now are suffering.

I would like to think I’m a kind, caring and mature person (for those of you who saw me out during freshers week, no you didn’t x JKS!) who will do his absolute very best to ensure freshers are well represented at Leeds PSG and make sure that freshers concerns’ about anything are all quickly and satisfactorily resolved. Vote for me as your freshers rep and you won’t be disappointed! TOGETHER AND ONLY TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!! FROM THE RIVER TO THE SEA!!!

Hi guys! I'm Aaminah and I'm currently in my first year of studies at UoL. I'm applying to be a Freshers Rep for PSG because I think it's more than imperative to get involved and raise awareness about the atrocities taking place in Palestine. They need us now more than ever and I think it's absolutely necessary that we all do our best to stand up for what's right, bravely ensuring our voices are heard loud and clear.

As a Freshers Rep, I will endeavour to do my utmost best assisting the society at events. I look forward to building a standing in PSG, doing my small part to help make the world a better place one step at a time.

"When we look away from the pain of any people, we diminish their humanity and our own." It's time we stop looking away and start fixing the problem, and we won't look away until Palestine is free.
