Hello! My name is Sebastian and I am excited to nominate myself for the role of Secretary within SASHA.

Being part of the current committee has been an immensely fulfilling experience for me. I've seen first-hand the profound impact that SASHA has not only on its society members but also on the wider campus community. It's been incredibly rewarding to witness the positive change we're effecting and the support we're providing. As I look ahead, I'm eager to continue the hard work that SASHA does while also ensuring that our committee, members, and university students receive the support they need. My year as the Publicity Manager has been a transformative journey, providing me with invaluable skills and insights into how SASHA operates. I've honed my communication, organisation, and collaboration abilities, all while deepening my understanding of the critical issues surrounding student safety and the fight against rape culture on campus. SASHA has become a cornerstone of my second year at university, and I'm driven by a desire to give back to it.

In the role of Secretary, I hope to be the keystone of SASHA's internal operations. From managing communication channels to taking meeting notes, I am committed to ensuring every member of our committee is informed and empowered. Also, I aim to prioritise relationships with other organisations and charities, ones I have already worked with through SASHA in the past year as well as forming new ones.

Moreover, I am eager to expand our repertoire of events and initiatives, providing more opportunities for engagement and education within our community. Whether it's organizing thought-provoking discussions, informative workshops, or empowering social gatherings, I am dedicated to improving the SASHA experience for everyone.

Outside of SASHA I also have other experience that I hope will lend me to the role! I currently work in admin and communications part-time which has given me a host of hands-on experience that is directly applicable to the role of secretary (i.e. inbox management, organising meetings, writing newsletters, and networking). I also am a regular volunteer in the wider Leeds area - particularly working with Food Banks - which has allowed me to meet so many amazing people and work on exciting projects such as fundraisers and promotional campaigns. Another key thing for me is recognising diversity surrounding social issues! As a trans man, I hope to bring my own perspectives as well as encourage the insights of other smaller groups into the discussion surrounding sexual violence and assault.

Overall, my main goal is to continue to support SASHA to the best of my ability as a committee member. I have long been driven by a passion for activism and social justice and I hope to be able to channel this through the society.
