I am Zaya, an Economics and Finance student eager to contribute to EconSoc by applying the skills and experience I have gained through diverse projects and roles. As Treasurer of EconSoc, I recognise the responsibility involved in managing budgets, setting membership fees to attract new members, funding activities, and tracking revenue and expenditure. Given this role’s demands, I believe it should be held by someone with proven experience in these areas, hereby, I believe I am qualified for this position.

Relevant Experience:
-Founder & President – New Era Store
At New Era International School, I founded and led “New Era Store”, a student-run business supplying stationery and printing services to support academic excellence. I collaborated with fellow business students to develop our business plan, pitched the idea to the school leadership team, and secured funding. I managed operations for a year before transferring schools, gaining hands-on experience in budgeting and financial oversight.

-Co-Founder – Pink Spot Project
While at Holland Park School, I co-founded the “Pink Spot Project” to raise awareness of fast fashion’s environmental impact and promote second-hand shopping. We partnered with local businesses and schools to organise a clothing swap event, where proceeds from donations and sales were given to a local orphanage. This project developed my fundraising and event budgeting skills.

My retail roles strengthened my money management, organisational efficiency, and attention to detail, the qualities critical for a Treasurer.

-Commitment to EconSoc
As an active member of EconSoc, ConsultingSoc, and YogaSoc, I’ve attended numerous EconSoc talks and socials, which made me familiar with the society and its members. My desire to run for Treasurer stems from my positive first-year experience and my eagerness to contribute more significantly in the coming year.

Why I’m Qualified:
My theoretical knowledge (as an Economics and Finance student) is complemented by practical experience in financial management. If elected, I will:
-Ensure transparent and purposeful spending,
-Maintain fair membership fees,
-Secure diverse funding streams and sponsorships.

As a first-year student with a keen interest in finance, I’m excited to bring my enthusiasm and determination to the role of Treasurer. While I’m still building my expertise, I’m committed to learning and applying my skills to manage our funds responsibly and effectively.

My approach is straightforward: to manage and grow the society’s funds in a responsible manner, making sure every penny works for you. I’ll prioritise transparency in our finances, keeping you informed about how funds are allocated, and focus on events that provide real value – from career-enhancing networking opportunities to fun, memorable socials.

I may not have all the answers yet, but I’m dedicated to learning, working hard, and delivering results. Together, we can make the 2025/26 year a standout one for the society.
