Hi everyone I'm Henna and I'm in my 4th year of medicine. After having enjoyed my GOSH placement so much I've decided to consider O&G as my future career path. In doing so, I'd like to inspire others to do the same (ofc!), by running for Clinical Rep. I'd like to do this by helping in LOGSoc's popular revision series events and mock OSCE next year. I'm really enjoying my ESREP project looking into methods of induction of labour - which I presented at LOGSoc's annual conference recently. I'm also very excited to embark on my elective in Tokyo this summer specialising in O&G so I hope I can bring back some useful knowledge/good stories for everyone at LOGSoc!!

Hi I'm Lizzie and I'm a third-year medical student hence why I can't be at the AGM tonight - sorry but the exam is looming!! I would like to be a clinical rep next year as I am really looking forward to my Obs & Gynae placement and want to help my fellow fourth years to enjoy the rotation and get the most out of it. I have also heard AMAZING things about LogSoc's revision series from older students so of course want to be involved in that and join the team that puts on the brilliant annual conferences.
Although like most 1st-3rd years I have had very little exposure to Obs & Gynae in practice I am very passionate about women's health; and the politics of health that so frequently utilise women's bodies for political weaponisation. I am also very interested in how medical education sometimes glosses over the gender disparities in healthcare provision and research. Next year I hope to put this passion into practice through an O&G ESREP project. Lizzie

Hi, my name is Irina! I am currently in second year, but I’ve already done a degree at the uni of Leeds, so I’ve got a lot of experience being on different committees at the uni. I am really passionate about women’s health, but it’s a topic that I don’t think gets spoken about enough at the uni. All of the LOGsoc events I’ve been to have been so interesting and fun, and I would love the opportunity to promote LOGsoc so that as many third years as possible get to experience the events and consider Obs and Gynae as a specialty, as well as getting stuck in myself and helping to organise events!

My name is Jessie and I’ll be going into 4th year medicine. Having had the year off intercalating in ethics I have had lots of time to think about what I’m interested in and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed our in depth discussions about fertility and obstetrics. I’ve also decided to do an obstetrics research project for next year and so will be spending a lot of time with obstetricians to know more about the speciality. I enjoy mixing with other year groups and hope that we can create events where everyone feels welcome and wanting to participate in events and discussions. I really enjoyed the conference last year and hope to be a part of the next one in a more active role.

Hiya guys – sadly I can’t be at the AGM tonight as I am stuck in glamorous Airedale hospital accommodation doing my last rotation of 4th year. (I’m especially sad to be missing out on the excellent snacks that the committee always provide).

I would really love to be one of the clinical reps for LOGSOC next year – I have to admit I’ve only recently become a member of LOGSOC (after Stephen had to chase me to pay the full amount – sorry Stephen), but I think it’s one of the few societies that manage to be organised and professional as well as friendly and welcoming. The events that have been put on have been really engaging and I would feel proud to represent such a fantastic society.

I’m also very passionate about Obs and Gynae and Women’s Health in general. I volunteer for a charity called Basis which work with women and non-binary people who have been subject to / are going through challenges that are typically unique to these genders, including domestic violence, sexual violence and sex work. I volunteer with their outreach team in Holbeck every few weeks providing sex workers with a range of much needed support. It’s such rewarding work and would love to try and get the charity involved in some of the events that LOGSOC hold.

I feel as though my passion for Women’s Health and my love for the society make me a great candidate for this role, so I’d love it if you voted for me!

Hi, I’m Nipuni, I am currently a second year medical student, with an interest in Women’s health. I really enjoyed my work experience in Obs and Gynae, and I am hoping to study Women’s health during my intercalation year in the future! Women’s health is such an important topic and spans so many fields of medicine, and yet has very little exposure in the early years of medical school. I would love to work with the society to promote events to the early clinical years, and spread awareness of the topic to as many people as possible!
