My name is Rufus and this year I am running again for the Welfare representative position on MSRC. Over the last year I have been dedicated to helping students in any way I know how. This has involverd me creating a successful instagram page for MSRC welfare (@welfaremsrc), setting up a form to help the reporting of sexism on placement and helped Vice president Alexander Thronton get valuable feedback on his pronouns project. I have also fostered good relationships with the SES team and the LUU welfare officer which are valuable in having a good impact on student welfare. As this was a new role this year, I also worked with the MSRC executive committee in figuring out what the role of welfare rep should be within MSRC. All this experience will be invaluable for me as the welfare rep, and something that no one else applying will have.

This is not the end though, I have plenty more ambitions for what i can do to support students in the best way possible. I am currently in the planning stages for setting up monthly support meetings where students can come and speak about whatever is on their mind. I can then take this feedback to the medical school, allowing for a quick and efficient transfer of information, as well as making sure that students are heard. This will hopefully facilitate real change in areas where it is needed. So please vote for me for welfare rep, so that we can get these plans in motion and make some real change for student welfare.
