Hi all, if you don’t know me, I’m Badger. I’ve been away in France for the year and have been desperately missing the club, the holy trinity, and rollover. There’s only so much wine and cheese a man can have before feeling the urge to down a warm pint of Bud Light in front of 50 like-minded morons.

It doesn’t seem long ago that I was a sad little fresher with no tie or blazer, but I’m now realising that next year I will be a sad little senior who is old and no longer has any mates because they’ve all graduated. If that’s going to be the case, then I may as well do it as a committee member.

All jokes aside, I do really love this club and the mates I’ve made in it along the way. This really is a place where you create lifelong friendships, and keeping in touch with those people as they graduate is a hugely important thing for us as individuals and for the club.

As a 4th year and someone who has good relationships with the guys leaving this year and from the years before that, I think I am the best positioned to keep in touch with our alumni on behalf of the club by organising reunions and ensuring they come back for events like the Otley run and the ball.

I will also add a new focus on getting alumni involved in varsity, creating a third event in the year where they attend in force. As I see it, this is our biggest day of the year which has been going from strength to strength and has enormous potential to get even bigger. I will work to ensure that alumni are following the build-up to varsity and attending on the day to make the atmosphere at Weetwood even more electric than it already is. This will give you the chance to spend more time meeting club legends and the alumni the chance to see you and to watch purple tears flowing yet again.

Hello lads,

Although there is obviously so much more to come in this final term, I just want to start off by saying what an absolutely incredible year it has been. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with cricket and made some of the best memories and friends, creating a real passion to drive it onwards in an official manner.

Keeping alumni aware and active is fundamental to the direction and longevity of the club. I will make sure to badger (who?) alumni to attend club events when possible, with specific attention to the ball. As well as this, I will continue the good work started by Moses and ensure that a winter and summer social occur. Even if it is just me and Avhead tucked into a corner of spoons, in the words of Kylian Mbappe: “I will be there no matter what”.

I am av. Some may call me a degenerate, I would agree. However, this degeneracy has helped me create great connections with current (see profile pic) and future alumni. I believe this puts me in a great position for this role, as a familiar face is fantastic to help blackmail, peer pressure, and extort working adults to relive the glory days.

In all seriousness, I believe I have the best skill set to work with alumni and would be dedicated to this role to enhance the alumni experience as much as possible. The chance for currents to meet alumni is not only good chat but is also very helpful for networking and advice for post-graduate life. So many advantages come with a good alumni network, which I will strive to continue and develop.
