Hey lads,

I'd love the chance to give back to this fantastic club, and I genuinely believe I can make a positive impact as Development Secretary.

I've been coaching cricket since I was 16, working with players of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds—pretty similar to the range we see in the dev squad. Because of that, I know how to keep sessions fun and engaging for everyone, while still attempting to offer proper technical advice for anyone keen to improve their game. I also feel I am an approachable and outgoing character that can successfully lead and improve the development squad.

My main aim would be to make sure everyone in dev squad feels like a valued part of the club. I'd work closely with the future social and welfare secs to help integrate more people deeper into the club, through socials, especially sober socials and other inclusive events. Whether it’s through cricket, socials, rollovers, football—or just having a chat—I want to help lads find their place here.

I'd also look to build on the amazing work Coombs has done with the indoor development tournaments—they’ve been a massive hit. I’d look to keep training exciting and competitive through the continuation of both indoor matches and tournaments. Having been to a few dev sessions myself, I’ve also got some fresh ideas for improvements, especially around kit and structure, which I’ll touch on more in my speech.

Lastly, I’d make sure I’m in close contact with the future CC and training sec to flag any lads who are smoking them in dev nets and deserve a shot with the main squad. I'd also ensure I am communicating well with the dev lads with early Facebook posts to enable training to be successfully planned.

Lords Fresh

Hi lads,

I hope you’ve all enjoyed a (poorly earned) rest after last semester.

I’d like to put my name forward for Development sec, taking the reins off Coombs after a great year.

My main objective is to improve the social atmosphere at dev training, with a disconnect currently existing between main and dev squad members, particularly in the early days of being a fresher. I think this could be achieved with the encouragement of rollover attendance, as well as driving forward the sober socials that we saw this year.

Essentially, the goal is to make the club feel less divided, and for everyone to have equally opportunities on both a sporting and social level.

I would love to be on the committee of the best society in Leeds, hopefully bringing positive change to all members of Dev.
