Greetings gents,

Hopefully everyone has had a restful Easter and took a well-earned break from degenerate behaviours and consuming an abominable amount of beer- I know I did [false acc?].

As my first year in this great club sadly draws to a close, the time calls for us to look to the future and make a very important decision. For me, that involves applying to take on the role of Social Media Secretary next year. Having already gained experience with using tools like Canva and creating different forms of content- a point that I will expand on in my speech- I truly, madly and deeply believe that this role would allow me to contribute back to the club in the best possible manner.

One of the key things I would look into doing is starting a continuous flow of content on TikTok and Instagram reels with ideas such as mic’d up nets and interviews with players both before and after games. This would hopefully help our club gain a wider audience across social media platforms while also providing an insight into our training and match days- something that could potentially draw newcomers to start and play cricket in the Holy Land of Leeds.
For the social members of our club, or even to increase engagement from other societies and universities, I have ideas for some more humorous and less technical content. Taking inspiration from the world of Hollywood, video concepts such as ‘UOLMCC Oscars’ or ‘UOLMCC got talent’ would also help present this club as what it is- a beautiful and chaotic light-hearted environment full of [mostly] good blokes. Again, this is a point I look forward to talking about more in my speech.

Aside from these video ideas, I would like to introduce a fantasy league for our very own football side over the winter and spring, as well as continuing Rob’s brilliant development of the cricket one. This feeds into one of the most important values of m*ne I would like to highlight- inclusion. As your Social Media Secretary, I would take it as my responsibility to make sure every aspect of the club, from sober socials to charity events, is proudly shown to our audience in the best light possible.

That’s me finished for now, but I am stoked to expand on these ideas and present my full vision next week, as well as seeing everyone at the AGM.

Screaming for Dev games

Hi lads, as we near the end of this brilliant year as part of the club, I would love to put myself forward to represent the society in the role of Social Media Secretary.

Despite being told I look related to Jacob Bor, I have absolutely loved every minute of being part of this great club. Having been welcomed so kindly, and becoming more and more involved as the last 7 months have unfolded, I want to continue and contribute to the running of the club, day-in day-out.

Having ran and assisted different social media accounts in the past, I have developed skills using different tools across instagram, canva and editing apps. As a result, I would be able to continue the great aesthetics and designs for team sheets, events, player profiles and so much more.

I am keen and ambitious to boost the club’s presence on social media, especially Instagram Reels and TikTok. I would do this by posting creative content like training highlights, player interviews, profiles, and behind the scenes clips, as well as creating highlight reels for all parts of the club, from football, to social golf days to training sessions, to matchdays. I am very interested at the potential of investing in a club camera, which could be used for all of the aforementioned, making the quality of content even higher.

I aim to work closely with the Charity and Sponsorship secretary, as well as other members of the committee, in order to represent all parts of the club on our socials.

Furthermore, with the opportunities of both cricketing and social tours, and the popularity of short-form videos, I would create quick, entertaining and amusing videos such as ‘travel with a University cricket team on tour’, or ‘A Day in the life of a touring cricket team’.

I would also like to, if voted, give the members of this fine club the chance to have their say, regularly offering opportunities for members to give ideas and feedback on our social media platforms.

With the newly introduced fantasy cricket league being a source of excitement for all of us, I want to build this idea further, and aim to spread the league to not just current UoLMCC members, but also to alumni and beyond. I would share regular photo-based updates, as well as player prices and photo shots.

I’m thoroughly excited at this opportunity to represent the society in the role of Social Media Secretary, and ultimately give back and contribute to this great club which has already given me so much.

I look forward to presenting my ideas fully to you all at the AGM, and can’t wait to see you all there.

Hello Gents,

As another fantastic year as part of this great club comes to an end - and with the cricket season finally arriving - I’d like to put myself forward for the role of Social Media Secretary for next year.

My main goal would be to grow both our Instagram and Twitter/X accounts as much as possible. I’m setting ambitious but achievable targets: 2,500 followers on Instagram and 2,000 on Twitter/X. These numbers might feel distant now, but with the ideas I’ve got for next year, I genuinely believe they’re within reach.
We’ve all seen how good the media day photos were this year and how much they elevated our social content. That’s why my first proposal is to invest in a club camera and a GoPro. These would massively increase both the variety and quality of content we can produce.

• The club camera could be used for game day photos, squad shots, and media day headshots for everyone who wants one.
• The GoPro could be mounted on helmets for both training and matches -perfect for generating some top-tier preseason content.

What really sets us apart from other cricket societies is our social side. That’s why I want to make sure we’re regularly posting team sheets and results for both social football and the indoor cricket league. It's what makes this club feel so inclusive - it’s not just about how good you are at cricket.

I’d also like to revive the club’s LinkedIn, helping us build a more professional online presence and maybe even boosting our chances of landing a proper job after uni.

Everything I’ve outlined is realistic. I’m always available for club events, confident using all three major social platforms, and I’ve recently picked up some decent Canva skills during uni - all of which I’ll use to take our social media to the next level.

Most of all, I just want people to see and appreciate the amazing stuff this club does. Cricketing and socially alongside the great work we do during Movember and year round for charity - hopefully attracting even more great cricketers (unlike myself).
