India Clarke for Head of Marketing

Hello, I’m India and I’m currently a first year Film, Photography & Media student who is obsessed by photographing memories and sharing them for all my friends to see. I’d say that I gain more enjoyment from watching my friends’ reactions to the photos that I’ve taken than taking the photos myself! I have been an LSTV member since Freshers week and I am so glad to have joined as I have made so many friends of like-minded people who share an interest in things such as film and taking photos. With this committee position, I want to contribute this love cameras and sharing my content to the LSTV members through the role of Head of Marketing.

I have numerous ideas and ways in which I’d like to contribute towards LSTV through the Head of Marketing such as:
• Content from the get go - For any fresher who wants to join LSTV, their first port of call to find out any info is the Instagram so, in the run-up to Freshers Week and throughout, I want to provide content and information so that not only first years but also returning students have the confidence to join us.
• Fresh ‘n’ active - I want people to be constantly engaged with all LSTV content and so, that begins with keeping the Instagram feed active which can then be used as the bridge to attract new audiences to our website and YouTube page.
• Spring clean - I love myself an attractive Instagram feed which is why I think I need to give all 82 LSTV story highlights a bit of a tidy.
• Informative and fun - I’m happy to respond to any questions followers may have and provide updates on any new content to be released on our YouTube to widen our viewing audience.
• BTS - I find it so interesting watching behind the scenes content and I feel that the Instagram is a great place to display the BTS of everything we create, it may even encourage new members.
• Interactive - I’d love to get people involved with LSTV from the comfort of their own bed and I can do this by creating polls, questions and quizzes for the followers.
• A team effort – A content idea I have for the Instagram is account takeovers, where each member of the committee gets to run the account for a day to showcase their role within the society.
• Important updates – The LSTV members Facebook page often posts urgent messages where for example, a last minute camera operator is needed. These notices can often be missed and so to combat that, I want to make use of the close friends feature on Instagram where all members of the society will be added onto this list and these last minute messages can be posted on the close friends’ stories. This would mean that non-members following the account won’t see all these stories which are unnecessary for them.
• LSTVeReal – I am admittedly addicted to the app that is BeReal and unfortunately, there isn’t a way to create an LSTV BeReal account however, I would like to make the most of those of us with the app where we post ‘LSTVeReals’ to the Instagram. (Yes, basically our own but those which are relevant to LSTV!)
• A returning feature + a collab! – to keep the Instagram feed continuously active, I’d like to post Sunday ‘weekly photo dumps’ of pictures taken by any members from the past week relating to LSTV. This can also become a collaboration with the head of music where, attached to the post, we add the ‘song of the week’ – a new idea if the head of music is keen.
• Learn something new every day – not only do I want to provide updates and photos of everything we get up to but I would also love followers to learn about Leeds and our society. I feel it would be beneficial to film short videos explaining:
- What Alumni Weekend is
- What NASTA is
- What Varsity is
- What the Riley Awards are
- Any other relevant university based events
If these videos are posted not only to YouTube but also the Instagram and the website, I feel we could teach people what these events are and therefore they might feel encouraged to take part in these events.
• Joining forces – In collaboration with head of light entertainment, I’d love to contact other student TV stations across the country and make short-form video content posted on the Instagram where we challenge other uni’s TV stations to do little challenges (children’s party games). These can run throughout the year where a tally is kept of which uni wins what in the games.
• Navigating Leeds – at this time of year I think it would be a great idea to post short videos explaining each of the University’s accommodation options for first years starting in September who have no idea where to start in their accommodation research. These videos can be posted as Instagram stories and have their own highlight so that they are easily accessible for future years to come.
• Meet the committee – in addition to the usual ‘Meet the committee’ post, I’d like to have a bit of fun and produce our own version of the ‘Friends’ title sequence where each committee member is introduced as though they are the characters in the show. We can also make great use of the purple sofa in the studio too, to create our own Friends shot!

These ideas would all positively affect marketing for LSTV and I’d love to be able to make them happen. I also have lots of fun video ideas in general to share with people and hopefully work on next year too whether I have a role or not!

Heyyy this is Katie Howard and am very excited to be applying for head of marketing!! As a member of LSTV I have had so many great opportunities to film and gain experience from interviewing bands at jumbo records to filming commercials to reacting to Jojo Siwa and her dramatic change. I especially had a fabulous experience during vlogmas and would absolutely love to carry on the legacy! I have had so much fun being part of LSTV and I would love to have the opportunity to create and manage content for LSTV as head of marketing so pretty please vote for me ;)
