In short, sustainability means meeting our own needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs. I believe that this should be a core value of our university students, especially medics, as we will be expected to advocate for others as a part of our job. As someone who cares for the well-being and others and the planet, I believe that I can fulfil the role of sustainability officer. There are many strategies that we could implement to make the medical school more sustainable; we could begin by educating people about its significance and build on this by converting many of our daily habits to more “eco-friendly" versions. I have many ideas of what small things we could do to ultimately make a big difference. Currently (and in the past) I have held committee positions in various societies, so I can work well in a team, think of ideas for my role, and carry these out.
