hello! my name is al-khasim (he/him), I am currently a second year Film Studies student and a maths enthusiast. I am crazy about film and I'd love to be your FilmSoc treasurer for the next academic year !!

"I've seen you at FilmSoc screenings this year!"
I've been a massive fan of FilmSoc this year, going to almost every screening, meeting many people, and if your seeing this I'd love to know what you're favourite screening this year has been :)

my promise is as follows...
As your reliable treasurer, I will always ensure the funds of the society goes towards making filmsoc as good as it's been this year and even better in

"Ok but like, are you responsible?"
YES. By responsibly managing the societies' funds, I will push to make filmsoc screenings more accessible, screening films with subtitles, booking disability-accessible spaces, and funding to host a more diverse array of events and activities.

For all the events that happen with FilmSoc in the next year, I will manage the finances in a way that will allow these events to be as financially accessible as possible, spending responsibly and gesturing to people where they may find financial aid if needed.
I will also look to collab with societies for fundraising, as well as fundraise for charities and families, from Palestine to Congo to Sudan to those in need locally aswell.

"I heard through the grapevine that there is a FilmSoc lending library available to us?"
YES, and as your treasurer I will look to upkeep the lending library with films for us for the entire year

"My mate Sam told my mate Lewis who told my mate Marta that you are good with admin... is that true?"
YES, I am great with admin, I love using Excel and I believe this makes me a good candidate for treasurer (although I don't know how or why all your friends know this /lh) \(^o^)/

"What screenings would you put on if you became treasurer?"
I will not only look to screen the modern era classics that we have seen this year, but I also want to screen films with respect to the vast worldwide cinematic landscape, from India to Bouganville. I'll go as far to say that I care greatly about cinema as a storytelling medium, as it has the power to tell the stories of people whom we would have never known about if not for film, and I would love to screen some film documentaries which show this like 'The Aggressives', or the various other films from the world of cinema.
The other ambition I have here is to programme a series of short films for a screening ᕙ( •̀ ᗜ •́ )ᕗ

i am a second year english and film studies student and have been attending filmsoc since i joined uol.

i’m nominating myself for the role of treasurer because i am (humbly) a brilliant organiser and am good at keeping tabs on finances and spending. i’m responsible and if you elect me for this role then you can be assured that your membership payments will be used to make your time at filmsoc the highlight of your university experience :)

Hello! I’m Cate and I’m a 2nd year physics student. I’ve really enjoyed going to film society screenings since 1st year and talking to people about their individual film tastes and opinions, so I want to get more involved in the society and help out!!

Hi, I am Xavier and I am running for the role of treasurer.
As a well-organized and non-impulsive person(this is very true), I will keep strict and maintained control over the Film Soc finances. I have prolific skills in Excel as I love looking at spreadsheets and will use this skill to stay organized and manage the finances. I am an excellent group worker and think I'd fit in greatly with the Film Soc committee, and I hope that if I'm elected they won't mind me too much.
