I’ve been an avid filmsoc member for the last two years and recently got the opportunity to be in the general committee this last semester and would love to be able to next year. I love filmsoc and everything film, i co-host a film podcast called Frame By Frame with coursemates and have had both Film Society on and Current President Cerys as guests. As mentioned before i have experience being in the committee before and would have to be back to be able to work on making events even better, working behind the scenes, with this prior experience of how it works i can bring this with me into next year. I hope to show some of my personal favourites that i think more people need to see from Werner Herzog classics to films like Y tu mamá también.

Hi, I’m Lucy and I’m a second-year Film Studies student! As an avid member of Film Society for the past two years, I understand the dedication and passion it takes to be part of such a hard-working team. Due to my experience helping out at Filmsoc events, such as the first semester Otley Run and second semester Welcome Back Drinks as well as enjoying being a participant of many more, I would love to further help and support the team in these events. Hey! I’m Mia. I’m a 2nd year films studies student and I would love the opportunity to continue my position on general committee going into my final year.

Film is my absolute favourite thing in the world... I love to watch them, talk about them, and share my love for them with others, and I especially love our community of fellow film-lovers in Leeds.

You may know me from my really funny reviews featured on the FilmSoc Letterboxd account like ‘Hyde Park after 10pm’ for City of God and (my personal fave) ‘Loooove pretending I’m at the Roadhouse when I’m actually just 4 pints deep at Brudenell’ for the Twin Peaks pilot. My vision for FilmSoc:
- More socials/drinks before screenings - I am a very sleepy girl and sometimes don’t want to stay at uni that late
- More organised nights - eg club nights, fridge to fridge socials
- More opportunities for feedback/audience picks

Filmsoc has been my favourite society and a great community throughout my time at uni and I hope to continue that for you all next year!

Hi I'm Shay, and I will be running for General comittee for film soc this year! I am currently a second year student studying architectural engineering so its a given that I love well crafted sceneries and immersive worldbuilding which I look out for as I continue to expand my film knowledge which I have been able to do through film soc this past year.

My time with film soc has been a blast broadening my letterboxd with films I probably wouldn't have considered and enjoying the vibes of both social events and screenings.

If I were chosen for general committee I would strive to ensure that screenings and social events can run smoothly and efficiently, aspiring to make everyone who joins feels welcome within the society. ~
