Hi everyone,

Most of you already know me, but if you don’t — I’m Ahmad, currently the 1st team captain. I just wanted to share why I believe I’m the best candidate for President.

I love basketball and care deeply about our society. Over the past two years on the committee, I’ve consistently worked to make it better every day — whether that’s tabling your games, cheering from the sidelines, organising merchandise orders, booking court time, helping run socials, or setting up events and making sure everything runs smoothly. I’ve also organised and officiated the Devs friendlies, and will continue to do so thanks to the connections I’ve built. I’ve done all of this as captain — so imagine what I could do as president!

I’ve also built strong relationships with both the LUU Activities team and The Edge staff, which has brought a lot of positive attention to our society. I even managed to secure increased funding, which you’ve already seen go toward new equipment. I also plan to invest in a Veo camera and new skills equipment to enhance the overall experience for everyone.

Honestly, I don’t think anyone has worked as hard or is more committed to this society than I am. I’ve put my heart and soul into everything I do behind the scenes to keep things running. I’d love the opportunity to continue that work as your president next year — and I truly believe I’m the best candidate for the role.

Hello my name is ousmane (Oz) and I am going into third year, studying Japanese and Economics. I love the game of basketball probably more than anyone else I know. I'm always at the court training and in the gym working out, just looking to get better at the sport. This year I have had a great time playing with the second team and for this coming year I hope to make sure that no one in the society has any problems as well as just bring the members of the basketball club together as a whole.


By working with the committee and the coaches I look to further increase the club's performance as well as better the vibes and relationships between all our members. I will always be looking to make the best decision for the club including everyone's opinions from our 1st team down to our development team. I hope to have a decent amount opportunity for all players in our society to participate in not only bucs but also any other planned events meaning that weather you are serious about basketball and see a career from it, or whether you just enjoy the sport and want to do it for fun, you will be able to enjoy your time in the society with me as president.

I believe my love for the game and grind has allowed me to create good relationships with almost everyone in the society, whilst also allowing me to have good connections to run basketball events not only within Leeds but also outside of the city. I am very openminded and will always take advice and look for everyone's opinions before making a decision, in order to keep the system as fair as possible. I also have prior experience running a basketball society in Japan as well as other clubs and therefore believe I would be fit for the role.
