Hi I’m Nyah, I’d really like the opportunity to be the pre-clinical rep for the Leeds Undergraduate Anaesthetics Society.
I’ve had the opportunity, through my SSP for ENQUIRE 1, to shadow an anaesthetist and research into the effects of general anaesthesia on the cardiovascular system. Through this I’ve developed a strong interest in the physiology of anaesthetics and have thoroughly enjoyed finding out more about it independently. I am also interested in the practical, hands-on aspects of the career.
Outside of medicine I have had plenty of opportunity to develop the attributes necessary for the role. I have strengthened my team working skills by continuing to play netball at university for LUMDNC and have had leadership experience being head girl at my school. I also enjoy playing my musical instruments, piano and double bass, to keep me sane during my studies!
I will be an organised and keen member of the anaesthetics society if elected. I would really appreciate the opportunity to liaise with, and represent students in pre-clinical years, to get them involved in the society and gain an insight into anaesthetics.

Hi, I’m Gopika Narayan, a first-year student, and I’m excited to apply for Pre-Clinical Representative for the Anaesthetics Society.
I would love to actively support the development of engaging events, practical workshops, and informative talks that make anaesthetics approachable and exciting during the pre-clinical years.
I am eager to gather feedback from pre-clinical students on what they want from the society and bring this to the committee to help shape events that truly engage my peers. I would also promote events within my cohort, ensure opportunities are clearly communicated, and act as a reliable first point of contact.
Through my experience as First Year Rep for Eyesoc and Orthosoc, and as a Rep for the British Indian Medical Organisation, I have developed strong organisational and communication skills. I am passionate about bringing a proactive approach to this role, representing pre-clinical students effectively while helping to foster an inclusive society. Thank you!
