Hey guys, I’m really excited to apply for the role of 4th Year Representative for UGAS. Anaesthetics and critical care are specialties I’m genuinely drawn to because of the blend of physiology, acute medicine, and practical skills. I’ll also be undertaking a summer elective in anaesthetics, which I’m really looking forward to as a chance to deepen this interest.

Fourth year is a key stage, particularly for those preparing for written exams and OSCEs after ACC placements. I’d love to help organise focused, high-yield revision sessions and engaging career events that are shaped directly by what students actually want and need.

I’ve been involved in a range of medical and non-medical societies throughout university, which has helped me develop strong organisational, teamwork, and communication skills. These experiences have given me the confidence and initiative to contribute actively to this committee and help deliver events that are well-run, relevant, and genuinely beneficial.

I’d really value the opportunity to represent the fourth-year cohort and help make anaesthetics events practical, supportive, and inspiring for everyone interested in the specialty.

Hi, I'm Tom, a fourth year medical student with a strong interest in anaesthetics and critical care, drawn to the specialty’s blend of physiology, pharmacology, procedural skills, and acute decision-making. I particularly value the teamwork and patient-safety focus that anaesthetists bring across theatre and critical care, which is why I’ll be undertaking an elective in ICU and anaesthetics this summer. Alongside this interest, I bring four years of committee experience across a range of societies, including helping organise large education events such as the Northern Sport and Exercise Medicine Conference 2026, and smaller OSCE sessions across a range of topics. I’d use this experience to represent our year effectively and help create opportunities for students interested in anaesthetics, both within and outside the hospital.

Greetings! My name is Pranav, and I am standing to be the 4th Year Representative! I have a strong interest in anaesthetics and intensive care, and I hope to support fellow students who are curious about the specialty or considering it as a career.

Over the past 2 years I have worked to build a solid clinical and academic foundation in perioperative medicine. I have completed both USMLE step 1 and 2 (>90th percentile) and will be undertaking an elective in anaesthetics and paediatric surgery this summer in the USA. These experiences have strengthened my interest in the field and given me valuable insight into anaesthesia, critical care, and operating theatre teamwork.

As 4th Year Representative, I would be keen to help organise practical and engaging events for students. In particular, I would like to help run OSCE practice sessions focused on perioperative and acute care scenarios, as well as coordinate networking opportunities with anaesthetists in the UK (and US if requested!) so students can learn more about the specialty and many career pathways within it.

I would be delighted to have your support and look forward to helping make the Anaesthetics Society an active and valuable community for students this year.

Hello everyone, my name is Meera and I am a fourth-year medical student with a strong interest in anaesthetics, acute care, and perioperative medicine. During my anaesthetics placement, I was particularly inspired by the dynamic and hands-on nature of the specialty. I enjoyed learning about airway management, the application of physiology and pharmacology in real-time, and observing the calm decision-making required in high-pressure situations.

Alongside my academic interests, I bring significant leadership and organisational experience. I am the Founder and President of the Leeds Ophthalmology Society, where I have organised teaching sessions, clinical workshops, and opportunities for students to engage with specialists. I have also served as President and Treasurer of the Leeds Tamil Society, where I led large-scale cultural and charity events. In addition, I have held committee roles as Clinical Representative for the Cardiology Society and Pre-Clinical Representative for the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Society. Beyond university, I serve as a Flagship Director for the British Tamil Medical Association, helping to organise national conferences and collaborative events.

If elected as 4th Year Representative, I would aim to create engaging and practical opportunities for students to explore anaesthetics. This would include organising ACC anaesthetic teaching sessions, mock OSCEs, opportunities to gain further insight into the speciality, and networking events with trainees and clinicians.
