Having had a tough couple years the input of freshers will play a vital role in the success of the club next year and years to come.
The integration of freshers into the club needs to have a huge focus.

This starts from now and i plan to work closely with social media to get some advertisement out there early doors. We want to be targeting boys straight of the back of their school boy rugby days, and get them excited to keep that going at university. Instagram would be the obvious point of contact and I’m keen to get a group chat going on there for preseason. Works better than WhatsApp and more likely to reach fresh. We can then put the Facebook links onto that.

Those first weeks of term are key. We will be putting in a huge effort into the fresh trials and this starts with training sessions. More intense and structured training sessions from the off. Not just a loose game of touch where forwards suddenly become playmakers! Bring in the calls and shape early so that when the fresh do intergrate into teams they are prepared.

The main aim for next year is going to be numbers. We had a good year this year and we need another big membership year. The more money backing the club the better. As fresher captains we will continuously work to keep the numbers coming in. Not just drop off after week 3.

Looking forward to getting a new bunch of fresh involved in the club.
