Hi everyone! I’m Anne Gobikrishna, and I’m running to be your Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Rep!

I wanted to run for this role because I know how intimidating surgery can sometimes feel — especially when you’re first joining the society. It can seem really daunting putting yourself out there, and I want to help make surgery a space where everyone feels welcome, included, and comfortable getting involved, no matter their background or experience.

I’m a very approachable and empathetic person, and one of the biggest things I would bring to this role is being someone people can genuinely talk to. I’ll always be there to listen to concerns, support people however I can, and make sure everyone feels heard and represented within the society.

I also want to help make the society more appealing and accessible to a wider range of students by working with other groups such as and collaborating on events that encourage more people to explore surgery in a supportive environment.

Most importantly, I want to help create a society that feels friendly, inclusive, and encouraging — because surgery should feel exciting, not intimidating.

Hello! I'm Cecilia and I'd love to be given the opportunity to be the Equality and Inclusion rep for Cutting edge!

I will be going into my 4th year in Medicine and over the past 3 years have built up a real interest in surgery and women's health. I am eager to break down the barriers that we often face in surgery and make all students feel welcome and represented.

This year I attended the Cutting Edge suturing series and I am keen to become more involved with the society and take on a committee role. If elected, I would love to introduce a Women in Surgery talk at the annual conference and work hard to make sure all students feel represented in the society.
