Hi everyone, I'm Matthew and I am so excited to be running for the role of Treasurer for Cutting Edge this year!

For the last year, I have had the pleasure of being first year rep. While this was not the most intensive role, it gave me an amazing opportunity to get involved and find out more what the society is really about and how we can help early year medics find out about surgical careers.

I have been a part of Cutting Edge since I started my gateway year and have been going to events ever since. It has been great to help behind the scenes such as at the conference and suturing series, whether that is setting up for suturing or sat at the door with the register, I'm not afraid to apply myself to whatever needs doing to help things run smoothly.

I am particularly interested in orthopaedics and would strive to co-ordinate more collaborations with other surgical committees so that we can provide a wide range of new and exciting events and sessions.

I have been fortunate enough to serve as Treasurer on two committees before so I have the knowledge and experience of how University funding works for societies and would easily be able to apply this to Cutting Edge. This would hopefully allow us to fund even more events and have access to more equipment!

As the first in my family to go to university, I know how difficult it can be to integrate into medicine. Therefore, it is important for me to make Cutting Edge more accessible to a wider range of students, particularly those from a working class or disadvantaged background.

Hello everyone, you might know me already from the endless group-chat messages about the Y4 mock OSCEs. I am Angela, a fourth-year Med student. I would love to stay part of this society with helping organising more events to help out other students. I am a very organised person and would like to run for the Treasurer position this year. I hope to make surgery more inclusive and this way reduce the cost of our events to ensure no one is left out. Apart from being the treasurer, I am keen to keep the Y4 mock osces running and help run and organise the Cutting Edge Annual Conference.
