Hello! My name is Maria and I would love to be given the opportunity to be one of your Clinical Years Representatives for Cutting Edge.
I will be going into my fourth year after taking a year out to intercalate in a Clinical Anatomy MSc.
Intercalation has greatly fostered my enthusiasm for surgery, and I feel being part of the Cutting Edge committee would allow me to utilise what I have learned in the past year to collaborate with students in their clinical years and encourage them to pursue their surgical interests through shaping the society's future events, including skills sessions and intercalation information evenings.
This course has consolidated my team-working and time-management skills, and I would be fully dedicated to working alongside fellow committee members in order to organise meaningful events for the society. I have attended multiple Cutting Edge events throughout medical school, the annual conference being a particular highlight for me. Being directly involved in the organisation of such events would be a fantastic opportunity to ensure the interests of clinical year students are reflected and catered to.
As a previous Pre-Clinical Representative for Endocrinology Society, I have experience in and enjoy communicating with the students I am representing. If elected, I will ensure to listen to any concerns or feedback raised to me and act promptly as a port of call for those that would like to learn more.
Overall, through this role, I would love to support and champion the surgical interests of those in their clinical years by working as a team to continue the success of Cutting Edge.
