Hi, my name is Amy Woodcock, and I am nominating myself for the role of Secretary this year.

I have been doing karate for 11 years, and having seen the great work this year’s committee has done, I think that I would be a good fit for this role moving forward. This club has been incredibly welcoming and done so much for me in my first year at Leeds, and I would love to give something back going into my second year, and bring fresh ideas to build on the great work last year’s committee has done. I am a hard-working and organised individual who has my feet placed firmly on the ground, and I have experience from a range of different teaching and volunteering roles, including teaching karate and helping to run gradings at my club at home, which have equipped me with great communication skills and the flexibility to tackle this role.

As a committee member, I would be dedicated to making sure that newcomers to karate this year feel welcomed, just as I did last year, no matter their ability level. I would especially like to focus on making sure that those new to karate or who are coming back from a break feel that their needs are met through training, and that they can build their confidence in both the dojo and a competition setting, as it can be daunting for some. I would make sure that brilliant events run this year, like BUCS and the internal competition, continue to be organised, and I also have some ideas for events to add this upcoming year, such as organising the Christie Cup and a karate Olympics. Additionally, I will do my best to ensure that we secure three training slots a week which work for as many people as possible.

I would love the opportunity to invest in this club by being on committee this year, and I hope that you will consider me for this role.

Hi everyone! I'm Arren, and I’m running for the position of UOL Karate Secretary .
I’m a friendly, caring guy who genuinely wants the best for everyone in our club. This past year, I’ve had the pleasure of serving as both Social/Welfare Secretary (most importantly Trusted Club Member). These roles have given me valuable insight into how the club is run, and I’ve loved being a part of making our community welcoming, fun, and supportive.
This year, myself and fellow committee have been committed to ensuring our socials and events are safe, inclusive, and enjoyable for all members. I truly believe in looking out for one another and creating a space where everyone feels at home.
As Secretary, I’ll make sure every important piece of correspondence with the university union is dealt with quickly and efficiently as well as making sure that our needs as a society are met. Matty and Ben in the union will be terrified of spaceboots if all goes well.
