Hi I'm Emma, a first year medical student with a strong interest in surgery. I observed my first surgery when I was 15 years old and have been fascinated with the field ever since. I would love the opportunity to become more involved in the Cutting Edge society and to be able to represent the interests of my fellow peers. I believe that I would be well suited to the role as I enjoy planning events and working within a team. I have previous experiences in organising successful fundraising events. I know that this role would provide wonderful experiences to develop many skills and I would be honoured to be considered.

Hello, I am Disha, a first-year medical student who hopes to one day specialise in surgery. I understand how it feels to be passionate about surgery, and as your clinical representative, I will always make sure your voices are heard and you are provided with the best opportunities. During my A-Levels, I ran a medical society that focused on organising interactive events for younger students, so I have developed the communication and organisation skills needed to be successful at this role. I also have well-practiced interpersonal skills from my experience in interacting with a range of students, teachers and medical professionals when searching for clinical skills workshops to bring to schools, often working with large teams when hosting events. These experiences have given me a variety of skills, all of which I can utilise to bring the best possible outcomes from this position. Thank you for reading, and I hope I can count on your vote :)

Hi I’m Keira, a first year medical student. After shadowing a surgeon on work experience and working as a HCA on a surgical ward for the past year, I’ve become really interested in pursuing a career in surgery. This role allowed me to gain a little insight into surgery, as well as helped me develop my teamwork and communication skills both with patients and within a team of healthcare professionals. As a pre-clinical first year rep, I would aim to carry both these qualities into this role, showing enthusiasm in working in a team of other committee members and listening to fellow first year students to help organise events that they feel would support their learning. I would love the opportunity to take up a role on this committee to get more involved in event organisation and helping other students.

As a gateway student, I understand how difficult it can be to get involved and engage with such a massive number of people. I am eager to get stuck in with helping Cutting Edge reach even more people.
Through my job with the ambulance service, I am confident working with various disciplines and roles to work towards the best way to help people. This role has given me strong communication skills with a variety of people and backgrounds.
