My name is Mark and I am a first year Politics student at Leeds. I have been a member of the Labour Party since March 2021, and I have been actively involved in campaigning in both my home city of Birmingham and in Leeds.

I have had a form of juvenile arthritis for almost my entire life, and therefore I understand the difficulties that comes with living with a disability, especially a hidden disability. I am passionate about diversity and inclusion, and I strongly believe that all Labour events should be accessible to everybody.

If I were to be elected as Disability Welfare Officer, my priorities would be:

Ensuring that all events and campaigning sessions are as inclusive as possible for those with all disabilities

Listening to the experiences of disabled people and ensuring that their voice is heard within LLS and the wider party

Encouraging members to engage with and discuss disability issues and the Labour Party’s policies on these issues

Increasing the number of members of LLS who identify as disabled
