The president is the overall manager of the society. It is their responsibility to set out the vision for the society (together with other members) and to work together with members to create a strategy to fulfill it. They are also expected to ensure the smooth execution of said plan once it is outlined. This entails, applying LUU policy, creating and applying new policy to improve the running of the society, defining the society’s structure and organisation and modifying it where necessary according to the society’s needs, and monitoring and evaluating the progress of different parts of the society to ensure objectives are being met.

They are further expected to:

- Chair meetings 

- Represent the society in all its affairs(where appropriate)

- Seeks out useful resources to the benefit of the society.
