Hi, my name is Reuben and I am running as a candidate for the role of social sec in next years Padel society. Padel was the first society which I was a part of in my first year and despite having never played the sport before I was instantly hooked, not just by the sport itself but the wonderful people within the society and the amount of fun we had at sessions and socials throughout the year. What I really loved was the fact that Padel provided a different experience to other sports societies with their creative social ideas and a variation in activities every week (and not doing prees then mischief every week like some societies), whether it was crazy golf, chase the chicken or a good old fashioned Otley Run the padel lot always found a way to have a blast. The reason I am applying for the role of social sec is that I hope to continue the wonderful work which was done by those last year and create a similar experience for those who will be new to the society, whilst also looking to expand into new horizons to maximise the social experience for everyone in the rapidly growing Padel society. Additionally, on the note of paddle being a growing society I would like to organise more joint socials with other societies in order to get Padel’s name out there and hopefully reach a larger conglomerate in order to help our society grow further. Overall, this role would mean a lot to me having been a committed padel member over the last year and due to this I would approach this role with my upmost effort and dedication and retain Padel’s reputation as being the best society around!

I am excited to put forward my nomination for Social Secretary. I worked as a party rep in Portugal & Spain for a year & am ready for another year in Leeds.

My Pledges:
- Run a padel tour abroad to give you an Easter to remember.
- Collaborate with other societies across the university for socials & special extracurricular activities.
- Introduce custom padel kit & merchandise.
- Creative themed sessions & tournaments.
- Be a friendly face to all new & continuing, beginner, intermediate (& everything in between!) players & active members.
- Continue padel’s legacy of inclusivity & fun.
- Socials suitable for drinkers & non-drinkers alike :)

Depsite the lack of effort given to my poster, do not let that lead you to believe that I will not put in more than enough effort for the socials.
Fret not next year I shall still have enough silly fresher energy to keep socials going every week, see unlike some present committee members I won't put my degree above Padel as Padel is life.
Despite my lack of attendance on Wednedsay socials, I have been taking notes from Luke so I can attempt to emulate his greatness and even try and maybe exceed them (I know a lot will think that's impossible)
I'll try to have more joint socials on the Wednesday's with other societies such as tennis (I'm friends with the social secs for next year so would work) and other racket societies.
I'll try and get attendance up on all socials and try to encourage everyone to come
In short I'll do an incredible job as I'm sure you are all aware
