Being very good friends with a lot of Alumni, I think I’d actually be good at the role. I’d organise alumni socials, working on from Pockers’ good work. Want to keep it brief here, just wait for my speech🦎

Going into my fourth year as a member of LUUMCC, and having been on the committee for the last 2 years, I have got to truly understand just how important the club is for not just current members, but also for those who have moved on from university, and into the working world. As well as being the cornerstone for your time at university, the club encourages you to speak to people from all walks of life, and enables you to make life long friends with at least one mutual interest, cricket.

I believe the role of alumni secretary is pivotal to drive the club forward. Bridging the gap between not just current members and alumni, but also between university and the working world, will only grow the club - not just as a university cricket society, but as a community which can serve to foster personal development throughout university, and in the years following.

I have made good friends within the current alumni, through our Oxford social last November, which connected me with almost 10 years of LUUMCC history, as well as reconnecting with former members who were part of my first and second years. Last summer, I also played in an alumni ‘Last Man Stands’ team across Leeds, allowing me to grow relationships as teammates with alumni members.

Within the role, I will continue Joe’s fantastic work this year, regularly updating the alumni WhatsApp group with club events and news, as well as organising another winter social and helping with the ball. I would also like to push to remember club legend Tommy Pritchard’s legacy by renaming our annual cricket vs rugby fixture in his honour, as well as inviting alumni to play in it. As a new idea, I would like to pursue the idea of going to London to watch a t20 blast fixture, whether this be at the Oval, or Lords, this would be the 3rd alumni social of the year, following the winter one on November, and ball in February.

I will go into more detail in the AGM of new ideas, and how I will further strive to connect the clubs history to its future.
